COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JUNE 5th, 1922.
Board of Commissioners met in regular session, June
5th, 1922. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dya11, the
roll was called and Commissioners Campbell, Dyar and argett
and City Attorney Buzick responded.
The minutes of the Special Meeting of May 29th, 1922;
Regular Meetinf of May 29th, 1922; Adjourned Meeting of June
2nd, 1922; and Adjourned Meeting of June 3rd, 1922 were read
and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar
and Hargett. (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 2503.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and providing for the levying and
collection of a license tax upon the business of those vending,
hawking or peddling ice cream or ice cream cones within the
City of Salina, Kansas, and providing a penalty for the viola-
tion hereof."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar
and Hargett. (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 2504.
City Engineer, Wm. Theisner submitted an estimate for
certain work done by The Smith -Graham Construction Company.
Commissioner Hargett moved that the work be accepted and
approved.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Camp-
bell, Dyar and Hargett. (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 2505.
A remonstrance was presented protesting against the
curbing, guttering, excavating and paving of:
Elm Street
from Elm Street Bridge to Ohio Avenue; v
Elm Street from Ninth Street to College Avenue;, -
Penn Avenue from Ash Street to Elm Street.--

A petition signed by Coar Sherman and eleven others,
was presented, asking for the extension of water main from the
corner of Beloit Avenue and Osborne Street, south on Osborne
Street to Minneapolis Avenue, and west on Minneapolis Avenue
to Fourth Street.
Same was referred to the City Manager.
City Engineer, Wm. Theisner submitted a written report
on the sewer construction of Amerman and Snyder.
On motion, same was ordered filed.
Fuller Bros. asked for a special permit to construct a
garage at the rear of 16t occupied by Filling Station on the
northeast corner of Iron Avenue and Eighth Street.
The matter was referred to the Fire Chief with authority
to issue a permit, same to be constructed of the material to
meet with his approval.

Commissioner Hargett moved that the proposal and bid
of The Peterson Construction Company of Salina, Kansas to _
furnish all material and labor for the construction and
completion of the Military Memorial Building in said City
according to the architects plans and specifications therefor,
including and subject to the City of Salinas right to exer-
cise any and all optiohs and alternate types of construction
mentioned in said plans and specifications or in said bid and
proposal be accepted, and that the City Attorney be instructed
to prepare an ordinance awarding a contract to The Peterson
Construction Company therefor.
Adopted as read by Commissioner Campbell.
Commissioner Hargett moved that the proposal and bid
of The City Plumbing Company of Salina, Kansas to furnish
all material and labor for the complete installation of the
heating, ventilation and plumbing systems to be installed in
the Military Memorial Building in said City, according to the
architect's plans and specifications therefor, including and
subject to the City's right to exercise any or all options
and alternate types of construction mentioned in said plans
and specifications or in said bid and proposal be accepted
by said City, and that the City Attorney be instructed to
prepare an ordinance awarding the contract to the City Plumb-
ing Company of Salina, Kansas therefor.
Adopted as read by Commissioner Campbell.
Commissioner Hargett moved that the proposal and bid
of the Cassell electric Company of Salina, Kansas, offering to
furnish material and labor for the installation and completion
of the electrical wiring and electrical apparatus in the Military
Memorial Building in said City, according to the plans and
specifications of the architect made therefor, including and
subject to the City's right to exercise any and all options and
alternate types of construction mentioned in said plans and
specifications or in said bid or proposal, be accepted by said
City of Salina, and that the City Attorney be instructed to
prepare an ordinance awarding the contract to the Cassell Elec-
tric Company of Salina, Kansas therefor.
Adopted as read by Commissioner Campbell.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell Board of Commission-
ers adjourned until Wednesday, June 7th, 1922, at five o'clock
P. M.
