05-29-1922 MinutesBoard of Commissioners met in regular session, May 29th,
1922. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dyar, the roll
was called and Commissioners Campbell and Dyar and City Attorney
Buzick responded. Commissioner Hargett absent.
The minutes of the Special Meeting of May 22nd, 1922, and
the Regular Meeting of May 22nd, 1922, were read and approved
as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance establishing and creating a Benefit District in
the City of Salina, Kansas by reason of the opening and extend-
ing Faulkner Street in said City from the north line of said
Faulkner Street north to the south line of Iron Avenue therein,
and fixing the boundaries of said Benefit District."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and
Dyar. (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The May-
or approved the same and is numbered 2501.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance granting the right of way to the Union Pacific
Railroad Company, its successors and assigns, for a switch
track on and across certain streets and alleys in the City of
Salina, Kansas and repealing Ordinance Number 1711."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell and
Dyar. (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The Mayor
approved the same and.is numbered 2502.
An ordinance was introduced for first r.Pad!nv ,r3titled:
"An ordinance relat=ing td and providing for the levying and
collection of a license tax upon the business of those vending,
hawking or peddling ice cream or ice cream cones within the City
of Salina, Kansas and providing a penalty for the violation
hemeof ."
"n motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
City Attorney A. R. Buzick, Jr., submitted a written
opinion relative to the contract with The Salina Municipal
Band.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was received and
ordered filed.
City Manager, W. A. Layton submitted the name of Ben
Wolbert as Electrical Inspector of the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the appointment was
confirmed.
Mayor Dyar appointed John J. Eberhardt, 7h, F. Grosser
and Chas. F. Schwartz to act as appraisers in ascertaining the
value of the lots and pieces of ground to be condemned by reas-
on of the opening and extending of Faulkner Streetin said City
from the north line of said Faulkner Stret north to the south
line of Iron Avenue therein.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the appointments
were confirmed.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commission-
ers adjourned until Friday evening, June 2nd, 1922 at seven
o 1 clock P. M.
