Board of Commissioners met in regular session, Alonday,
May 8th, 19212, n`ayor Dyar presiding, the roll was called and Com-
missioners Campbell, Dyar and l-largett and City Attorney Buzick
responded.
The minutes of the regular meeting of May lst, 1922, ,,,ere
read and approved as read.
The following resolution was introduced for second reading:
BE IT R"SOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Galina, Kansas that the curbing, guttering, excavating;,
grading and paving of Elm Street in the City of Salina Kansas
from the west line of TIinT th Street to the east line of 6ollege
Avenue, except the intersection of T�rrelfth Street and `thirteenth
X Street which are already paved, be and the s ame is hereby de-
termined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Elm Street
in the City of Salina, Kansas be curbed, guttered, excavated,
raded and paved within the limits above defined.

excavatedm graded and paved within the limits above defined.

Commissioner Campbell moved that the resolution be
adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; dyes: Campbell, Dyra and

The following resolution was introduced for second rending:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas that `i'he ''alina 'eater Worl-.s Company
be and it is hereby instructed and ordered to lay and install
a six-inch water main, with water hydrants located as directed
by the Fire Chief of said City, from the end of its I° esent
main at the intersection of Spruce Street and College Avenue,
thence west on Spruce Street to the Right-of-Vlay of the Missouri
Pacific Rail,,°ray.

Commissioner largett moved that the resolution be
adopted as reed and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and -Llar-
gett. (3) Nays: (0)
The following petitions were presented, asking for the
eurbi -ig , guttering, excavating, grading and paving of:
Ninth Street from Crawford Avenue to Bond Street;
Eleventh Street from Iron Avenue to State Street;
Penn Avenue
from Elm Street to Riverside Boulevard.
Same were received and ordered filed, and resolutions
to be prepared providing for the paving of the above named
streets.
A resolution was introduced for first reading providing
for the excavating, grading and paving of Third Street from
the south line of ��'ualnut Street to the south line of Mulberry
Street.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was intrdocuced for first re -.ding providing
for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Ninth
Street from Crawford Avenue to Bond Street.
On motion of Commissioner hargett same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced. for first reading providing
for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of
Eleventh Street from Iron rivenue to Stat.q Street.
On -otion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced i'or first reading providing
for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of
Penn Avenue from Elm Street to Riverside Boulevard.
On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
A resolution :=ras introduced for first reading providing
for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of
Fourth Street from South Street north to the north limits of said
street at or south of the Iron rivenue Bridge.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same i,ras referred to
the Board of Coinnli ssion rs.

A resolution was introduced for first reading x.roviding
for the construction of certain storm severs, manholes and catch -
basins in the City of Salina, Kansas.
On :notion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance amending Section Number One (1) of Ordinance Dumber
1911 and. repealing such original section."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same vias referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
The Smith -Graham Construction of Au��usta, Kansas, having
signed their contract and filed their Performance Bond for the
construction of certain paving, on motion of Commissioner Hargett
same was approved and ordered filed.
Amerman & Snyder of °iichita, Kansas having signed their
contract and. filed their Performance Bond for the construction of
certain sewers, on motion of Commissioner Campbell same was ap-
proved and ordered filed.
City Manager, T ,ayton stated that the grocers of the
City of Salina wished to hold their annual picnic in Oakdale nark.
June 8th, 19223, and requested the Municipal Band to give a concert.
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the request was granted.
City I:ianager, VJ. 1'.. Layton stated that he had appointed
August Swedenburg, as Sevier Inspector, and on motion of Commission-
er Campbell the appointment was confirmed.
It was stated that the mire Department had succeeded in
raising nearly the required amount necessary for the erection of
a monument at the grave of late Fire Chief, Fred Brodbeck.
Commissioner Campbell moved that if any balance would be
needed that the City would donate enough to have the monument erect-
ed at once.
Bids for the construction of a pergola in Oakdale nark were
taken up, and Commissioner Hargett moved that the contract be
awarded to A. ?"Barnard as rer his bid of May lst, 1922 for X822.00
provided, that said contractor will enter into an agreement with
the City of Salina, and give the required bond as provided by law.
Commissioner Campbell moved that the contract for the in-
stallation of the plumbing, in Oakdale Park be awarded to Lavid
IIi_1_1, said contractor to enter into a viri_tten agreement with the
City of Salina, and furnish the required bond as required by law.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board. of Commissioners
adjourned..
