An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance establishing a Benefit District by reason of wid- ening of Johnstown Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas, and fit ing the bounraries thereof." An Ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance repealing Ordinance No. 2355, passed and approved September 20th, 1020, entitled "An ordinance regulating the use of automobiles, motorcycles and other vehicles on the streets, avenues and alleys of the City of Salina, Kansas, regulating the passage of pedestrians upon and over the public streets of the City of Salina, Kansas; regulating the operation of street cars in the C.;ty of Salina; providing penalties for the violation hereof and repealing Ordinances numbered 1521, 1698 and 1782 of said City of Salina," and repealing such original sections. Commissioner Campbell moved that the ordinance be passed and approved and at this meeting, because of a public emergency making the same necessary, and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had.; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett. An ordinance was introduced .for first reading entitled: _ "An ordinance providing for the construction of certain_ sidelrialks in the City of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Commissioners Hargett same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: 11 An ordinance providing for the grading, paging, curbing and guttering of lzepublic Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas, from the east line of Fifth Street in said City to the east line of Santa re Avenue in said City and providing for the cost thereof hoer the same shall be assessed and the manner of _ray- ment therefor." On notion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissiohers. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for thegrading, paving, curbing and guttering of Crawford Avenue in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of Fifth. Street in said City to the east line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City and providing for the cost , thereof hour the same shall be assessed and the manner of pay- ment theref or. " On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the Board of Co!m. issioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled "An ordinance providing for the grading, paving, curbing and guttering of Bond Street in the City of Salina, Kansas from the west line of Fifth Street in said City to the east line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City and providing for the cost there- of, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. The following resolution -77as introduced for first read- ing:" Concerning Missouri i'aeifie Sewer on University Place, and also between Ash and State Streets. " On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Mayor Dyar presented the following request: I hereby request the Board of Commissioners of the zansas to consider and finally act upon a certain City of Salina, resolution authorizing and directing the Mayor and City Clepk of Salina, Kansas, to execute and deliver a certain lease and agree- ment appertaining to Oakdale Park in the City of Salina, Kansas upon first reading and without regard to a second reading there- of, at the regular meeting of said Board held on "'arch 27th, 1922, because of the existence of a public energency in regard thereto." _:ITNESS my hand this the 27th day of March) 1922. Banker p,?ayor City ler . 2bP6G j The follolaing resolution was introduced: Bre: IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas that the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf j of said City the lease and agreement entered into betreen The Saline County Agricultural, Hotticultural and. .'ech.anical II+ssociation, a corporation, party of the first part; the Board of County Commissioners, parties of the second part; the County of Saline in the State of Kansas, party of the third part; and the City of Salina, Kansas, a municipal corporation, party of the fourth part, bearing date of the 21st; day of 1"`arch, j 19225 including all of that tract of ground known as Oakdale Park in the City of Salina, Kansas, and more fully described within said lease and agreement. Said lease and agreement covering a period of fifty (50) ,years, and such further cove- nants and agreements as are to be found within the fourteen sections of said lease and agreement. Insomuch as the State Fire ,jarshal has designated the week from April 3rd to 10th., 1922 as "Clean -Up ;'iee.k" the City Commissioners designated said date as a general clean-up week in the City of Salina, and appointed Fire C'ief, Ben `folbert as Chai Inan to make all necessary arrangements for a parade to be given Monday, April 3rd, 1922 at one otclock P. I. City I+ianager A.=:ayton submitted the name of ' m. Gerard as Chief of Police to fill_ vacancy, caused by the resignation Cn of C. 0. Drevits, and on motion of Commissioner Hargett the appointment was confirmed. A petition was presented signed by 'iim. Reimold and 25 other citizens asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the east side of College Avenue commencir­ about 50 feet north of the alley bettreen Ash and Park Streets, and running north to intersection of College :!venue and Bishop Street, thence east along south side of Bishop Street to Thirteenth Street. Same was referred to the City vianager. A petition was presented signed by j, J, Fishi§r' and 5 other citizens asking forthecurbing, guttering, and. paving of 1zrrelfth Street from Ash Street to State Street. Same was re- ferred to the City %;ianarrer. A petition was presented signed by I. C. Henry and 10 other citizens asking f'or the opening of Faulkner Street from its present northern terminus to Iron avenue. Same vias referred to the City I dna; er.
