November 14th, 1921.
Board of Commissioners met in regular session, 13ovem-
ber 14th, 1921. T.Ieeting -.,,,,as called to order by iTayor Dyar,
the roll- was called and Commissioners Campbell, )yar and_ T ar-
gett and City _attorney Buzi_ck responded..
The minutes of the regular meeting of november 7th,
1921, were read and approved as read.
r. A. j. ',?iddleton appeared before the Commissioners
and asked for a special permit to construct a hotel build-
ing at the corner of Thirteenth and Bishop Streets. Said.
building to be frarle construction with metal lath and cement
finish on the outside and to be covered with composition
roof.
On motion of Commissioner Hargett a special permit
was granted.
A request was presented from. The Starr Cleaners askin€
for permission to construct a corrugated iron build.irg at
210 South Fifth Street for cleaning purposes.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the request aeras
held up for further consideration.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance
creating the position of night fireman at the City Building
and fixing the salary to be paid." Same was declared an
emer,-eney measure.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance ieras
read and adopted b,- sections and on its final adoption the
roll was called and the following vote was had; _,_Ties: camp-
bell.,
amp-
bell., Dyar and. Hargett. (3) Nays: (0) The,'Iayor approved
the same and is numbered 2412.
The following resolution was introduced for first
r,ead.ing. : "Relating to tax. business."
The resignation of F. Sefton, City manager, to take
effect on or before January lst, 1922 was rreserited and. read
as follows:
Salina, Kansas, November 14, 1921.
To the Hon. Board of City Commissioners,
Salina, Kansas.
Honorable Sirs:
Herewith I tender your Honorable Body my
resignation as City i.lanager of the City of Salina, Kansas,
to become effective on or before January lst, 1922, the
date of its effectiveness to be left for your consideration.
`ord s cannot express my regret in finding it
necessary to take this action, neither will words express
my appreciation of ,ou for the firm stand. ;you have taken in
my behalf.
The condition of my health at the present time
demands that I be relieved not later than the date request-
ed and I sincerely hope you T -!ill see fit to comply with my
request in this respect.

On motion of Commissioner TTargett resignation ,ras ac
cepted..
City Engineer recommended that the time for construct-
ing sidewalks be extended from November 12th to l+ovember
30th, 1921.
On motion of Commissioner CamT)bell the recommendation
ivas adopted. j
On motion of Commissioner Hargett, Board of Commis-
sioners adjourned.
