Board of Commissioners met in regular session, Octo- ber 31st, 1921. ieeting was called to order by Ylayor Dyar the roll was called and. Commissioners Camrbell and Dyar and City Attorney Buzick responded. Commissioner Hargett absent. The minutes of the regular meeting of October 24th, 1921, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyra and Campbell (2) Nays: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. The I;Tayor approved the same and is numbered 2411. The following resolution was introduced for second reading: 1,',�HEREAS, it has been sl.koirin to the Board of Commis- sioners that there are six separate persons occupying residence properties on Highland =:venue from Claflin t.�venue to Cloud l'lvenue, in t le city of Salina, Kansas, s!ho desire to become consumers of The Salina Mater V�orks Company for domestic purposes only and. that in order to permit such persons to become such consumers it will be necessary to lay and install not to exceed Three hundred Sixty (360) feet of two (2) inch pipe therefor, NO'''; T'T :�tEFORE, BE IT R=DSOLVED by The Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, that The Salina Company be and it is hereby directed and instructed to lay and instep a two-inch water main on �ighl.and Avenue from its present mains at the intersection of highland and Claflin•venues in the City of Salina, Kansas, thence south along Highland Avenue a distance of three hundred sixty 1360) feet. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the resolution was adopted as read by the following vote; Ayes: Campbell and Dyar (2) Ways: (0) Commissioner Hargett absent. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entit- led: "An ordinance relating to license tax on any person, persons, clubs, societies or organizations conducting or assisting to conduct any public dance held, in the City of Salina, Kansas, fixing the license fee, and providing a penalty for the violation thereof.11 On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. The following water resolutions were introduced for first reading: 6 -inch main from the end of its present main at the intersection of Republic Avenue and Ninth Street, thence south on Ninth Street to Jewell Avenue in said City; 6 -inch main from the end of its present main at the intersection of hin't1i Street and Otis Avenue, thence north on Ninth Street to Euclid. Avenue in said City; 6 -inch main from the end of its present main on Bond Street between Hichland Avenue and Ninth Street, thence west on Bond Street to Ninth Street and connect with pres- ent main on Bond. and Ninth Streets in said City; 6 -inch main from ti<<_ end of its present mains on Baker 'street between ,'ialnut Street and Cedar Street, thence south on ,Baker Street to South Street and connect with present mains on South Street in said City. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same were referred to the Board of Commissioners. A petition was presented asking for the location of a street light at the corner of Ninth Street and. Jewell cD =-venue. On motion same was referred. John Finch appeared before the Commissioners and asked for a special permit to construct a building 14 by 20 feet on Lot 33 on North Santa Fe Avenue, same to be constructed of galvanized iron with cement pebble front. On motion of. Commissioner Campbell, a special_ permit was granted. Fir(; Chief appeared before the 6ommissioners and asked for the extension of time for burning leaves from one oIclock to seven o'clock P. P;t. On potion the request was granted. City Engineer reported on the matter of the rocks that are piled on the end of Second Street, south. of Iron Avenue, and stated that in his opinion the pile of rocks did not interfere with the tr2.ffic on said street as the same .ere piled outside of th(; pavement, and recommended that 1,1r. Baier be not required to remove the same as ordered by the Commissioners. Mayor Dyar instructed the City Clerk to notify T,ir. Baier that the order heretofore given by the Corninissioner-s had been rescinded. Commissioner Canipbell stated that tl}ere are some important matters to be brought before the Commissioners and. on account of Commissioner Hargett being absent,iie moved that when the Commissioners adjourn, they adjourn until :'Wednesday evening, November 2nd, 1921, and that the City Llan�ger be instructed to have Chief of iolice Drevits and koliceman Stewart present at said .neeting.
