I.Ieeting was called to order by Iiayor Dyar, the roll was called and Commissioners Campbell, Dyar and Hargett and City Attorney Buzick responded. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: An ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purposes in the City of Salina, Kansas, for the year 1921." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections, and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes* Camp- bell, Dyar and Hargett. (3) Nays: (0) TI,e Llayor approved the same and is numbered 2402. An ordinance wasintroduced for second reading entitled: An ordinance making a special assess,,rent and levy of taxes for the cutting of weeds on certain lots and parts of lots in the City of Salina, Kansas.' On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett. (3) The 11ayor approved the same and is numbered 2403. A petition was received asking for the construction of a sewer on Republic Avenue from Ninth Street to Highland Avenue. Same was referred to the City* Mlana�rer. A petition wa6 received asking for the construction of a street crossing on the south side of Prescott Avenue across Fourth Street; also that cinders be placed. on Fourth Street from Prescott Avenue to Crawford Avenue. Same was referred to the City Manager. A request was received from the Board of Education ask- ing the City to pave Cedar Street from Baker Street to Phil- lips Street. file. On motion the communication was received and placed on City Manager reported that on investigation by the City Engineer, the sidewalk on the north side of Cedar Street from Baker Street to Phillips Street did not con- form with the grade established on Phillips Street, and as the City intended to place the intersecting cross sidewalk it would be necessary for the Board of Education to bring the Cedar Street sidewalk either to grade or to construct a step of about twelve inches in height. C.T. H. Meyers, a member of the Board of Education was present and assured the Commissioners that the matter would be attended to at once by the Board of Education.
