06-06-1921 Minutes1 1 1 1 1 Commissioner Proceedings COMMISSIONERS ROOM SALINA$ KANSAS JUNE 6th, 1921 Board of Commissioners met in regular session June liths 1921. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dyar and Commissioners Campbell, Dyar and Hargett and City Attorney Buzick responded to roll call. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 31st, 1921, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced. entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Camp- bell, Dyar and Hargett. (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2392. City Manager, F. W. Sefton reported favorably on the petition asking for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grad- ing•and paving of Ninth Street from the north line of Otis Avenue to the south line of Euclid Avenue. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the report of the City Manager was adopted. The following repolution was introduced for first read- ing: "Providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grad- ing, and paving of Ninth Street from Otis Avenue to Euclid Avenue." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. The following resolution was introduced for final adoption: BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the ^jCity of Salina, Kansas, that the grading, exeavatkng, curb- ing, guttering and paving of Republic Avenue in the City of Salina, from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue in said City to the east line of Highland Avenue therein, be and the same is hereby determined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Republic Avenue in the City of Salina be graded, exca- vated, curbed, guttered and paved between the limits as herr- inbefore defined. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the resolution was adopted as read by the following vote; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett. (3) Nays: (0) The following resolution was introduced for final adoption: `J BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, that the grading, excavating, curbing, gut- tering and paving of Eleventh Street in the City of Salina, from the north line of State Street in said City, to the south line of Ash Street therein, be and the same is hereby determined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Eleventh Street in the City of Salina be graded, excavated, curbed, guttered and paved between the limits as hereinbefore defined. (3) Nays: (0) The following resolution was introduced for final adoption: BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, Kansas, that the grading, excavating, curbing, guttering, and paving of Elm Street in the City of Salina, from the west line of Oakdale Avenue in said City to the west lineof Ohio Street therein, be and the same is hereby determined to be a necessary improvement, and that said Elm Street in the City of Salina be graded, excavated, curbed, guttered and paved between the limits as hereinbefroe defined. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the resolution was adopted as read by the followingvote; Ayes: Campbell, Dy- ar and Hargett. (3) Nays: (0 Complaint was entered against the practice of the Street Railway Company stopping.their street cars on Walnut Street between College Avenue and the railroad. City Manager, F. W. Sefton, suggested that the prac- tice should be discontinued. Commissioner Campbell moved that the City Manager take the matter up with the Street Railway Company to see if the practice could not be eliminated. City Manager, F. W. Sefton, submitted the following appointments for consideration and approval of the Board of Commissioners: City Treasurer, City Clerk,. City Attorney, Chief of Police, Police Judge, Fire Marshal, Street Supt. City Engineer, Park Supt. Henry H. Eberhardt, Chas. E. Banker, A. R. Buzick C. 0. Drevits C. B. Fort Ben Wolbert Ed Buchanan P. G. Wakenhut L. B. Kemper On motion of Commissioner Campbell the appointments were confirmed. -On motion of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commis- sioners adjourned.
