Cit y Attorney Buz ick absent. s The r mutes of the regular meetin- of May 16th, 1921, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "Ari ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll Lias called and the following vote was had; Ayes: I%yar, Campbell and Hargett . Sefton reported favorahly on the following petitions asking for the construction of sidewali s: On both sides of Putnam --venue from South Street to lv.orrison -venue; On the Last side of i�l eventh Street from fish �'treet to Park Street; On the East side of Eighth Street from Grand revenue to Decatur Street; Ori the East side of Penn -,-venue, north of Elm Street in front of Lots 15-17 and 19, Block 2, Riverside Park - ddi- t ion . Commissioner Hargett moved that the recommendat ions of ti -.e City Iariager be adopted and that the City attorney be instructed to draft the necessary ordinance for the construc- tion of the above sidewalks. City Manager, F. ',`d. Sefton reported unfavorably on the following petitions asking for the construction of sidewalks: On the south side of Cedar Street from College =avenue to ITissouri Pacific Railwa;;r raci.s; On the ,.rest side of Connecticut avenue from Iron 1wen- tzc to Johnstown avenue. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read aid adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; t�yes: Camp- bell, Dyar and Hargett. (3) Ilays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2389. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the City "ttorney was instructed to draft an ordinance creating an alley from Second. Street to Front Street through the ground recently deeded by the Board of Education to the City. The following resolution was presented for final adop- tion: 13E Il' RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Salina, that tho ; r,_,ding, excavating, curbing, Gutter- ing and paving of Republic —venue in the City of Salina, from the west line of Highland «venue in said Cit;,, to the east line of Ninth Street therein, be and the same is hereby determined to be a necessary improvemei t, and that said Republic Avenue in the City of Salina be graded, excavated, curbed, guttered and paved between the limits as hereinbefore defined. A request for permission to lay a twc)--inch water line j on Ninth Street and Claflin Avenue was received and referred to the City MlanaEer for investigation. i A petition was received asking for tr:e curbing, guttering, excavating, gradin- and paving of Ninth Etre-et from Euclid venue to Otis t-�venue. Same was referred to the City Manager. ! A petition was received asking, for the extension of grater main on Eleventh Street from Lincoln Aven:.te to Irarid ,`,venue.
