May 9th, 1921.
Board of Commissioners met in regular session May 8th,
1921. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Dyar, the roll
was called and Commissioners Campbell, Dyar and Hargett, and
City Attorney A • R • Buz ick responded.
The minutes of the regular meeting of May 2nd, 1921
were read and approved as read.
Mr. F. L. Blundon appeared before the Commissioners and
assured them that the Board of Education would be willing to
transfer a strip of ground for an outlet north of the new school
building north of Elm Street between Front Street and Second
Street, if the City would grant the vacation of the alley
through the south end of the block as requested.
The following paving resolution was presented for final
adoption:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas, that the excavating, grading and pav ,.-
ing, curbing and guttering of Bond Street in the City of Salina,
Kansas, from the west line of Highland Avenue in said City to
the east line of Ninth Street in said City are each and all
improvements necessary to be made and done, and be it further
resolved that said Bond Street be excavated, graded, paved,
curbed and guttered within the limits above defined.
Passed and approved this May 9th, 1921.

Commissioner Hargett made motion that the resolution be
adopted as read and on roll call motion was adopted by the fol-
lowing vote; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett. (3) Nays:

The following paving resolution was presented for final
adoption:

City of Salina, Kansas, that the excavating, grading, paving,
curbing and guttering of Ohio Street in the City of Salina,
Kansas, from the north line of Iron Avenue in said City to
the south line of Ash Street in said City are each and all
improvements necessary to be made and done, and be it further
resolved that said Ohio Street be excavated, graded, paved,
curbed and guttered within the limits above defined.

I BE IT RESULVEU by the Board of Commissioners of the
City of Salina, Kansas, that the excavating, grading, paving,
curbing and guttering of 'yilson Street in the City of Salina,
Kansas, from the east 1 ine of ' Santa Fe Avenue in said City to
the west line of Fifth Street in said City, are each and all
improvements necessary to be made and done, and be it further
resolved that said Wilson Street be excavated, graded, paved,
curbed and guttered within the limits above defined.
Passed and approved, this May 9th, 1921.

Commissioner Hargett made motion that the resolution
be adopted as read and on roll call the motion was adopted
by the followin vote; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar and Hargett.

An ordinance was introduced and read entitled: "An
ordinance vacating and discontinuing Palace Street in the
City of Salina, Kansas between the west line of Front Street
and the east limits of Wells Addition therein."
On motion of ..ommissioner Hargett same was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinl.nce was introduced and read entitled: "An
ordinance acating and discontinuing Hoffa Street in the City
of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was presented for final adoption entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the levy and collection of a li-
cense tax upon amusement parks carried on and operated with-
in the City of Salina."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Campbell, Dyar
and Hargett. (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 2383.
The following paving resolutions were introduced and
read:
Republic Avenue, from the wrest line of Highland Avenue
to the ea5 t line of Ninth Street;
k Ninth Street,from the south line of Republic Avenue to
the north line of Jewell Avenue.
On motion of Commissioner Hargett same were referred to
the Board of Commissioners..
An ordinance was introduced and read entitled: "An
ordinanceamending sub -section of Section 39 of Ordinance
No. 1688."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
A resolution was introduced and read entitled: "Pertain-
ing to stolen bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
A petition ,ias presented protesting against the con-
struction of a suitatorium on Lot 1, Block 5, Leavenworth
Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the City Clerk was
instructed to return said petition, asking that the street
address be placed opposite each signers name.
The following sidewalks petitions -were presented'
On both sides of Putnam Avenue from South Street to
Mi Orr is on t,venue ;
East side of Ninth Street from Urand Avenue to Otis
Av enue ;
North side of Pacific Avenue from Seventh Street to
Ninth Street;
East side of Seventh Street from Harsh Street to Otis
Av enue ;
South side of Otis Avenue from the east side of Ninth
Street to the west side of Santa Fe Avenue.
Same were referred to the City Manager.
A petition was received asking for the extension of
water mains from College Avenue and South Street, thence
west on South Street to Itis ontrose Avenue to Morrison Avenue.
Same was referred to the City Manager.
The annual report of the Welfare Board was received,
read and ordered filed.
Louis Hughes, of The American Legion appeared before
the board of Commissioners and asked for the use of Ken-
wood Part. to hold a carnival during the week of May 16th
to 21st inclusive, and also asked that license fee be re-
mitted

mitted on said carnival.
The matter was deferred until an investigation could
be made, by the Board of Commissioners.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the Board of Com-
missioners went into executive session., and after a short
executive session the Commissioners reconvened.
j An ordinance was introduced -and read entitled: "An
ordinance authorizing and directing the issuance of $300,000
of negotiable coupon bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas,
fdr the purpose of paying the cost of erecting a military
monument, and purchasing a site therefor in the City of
Salina, providing for the levy of a tax for the payment of
the same and directing the sale and delivery of said bonds."
On motion of Commissioner Hargett same was referred
to the Board of Commissioners.
There being no further business appearing, on motion _
of Commissioner Campbell, Board of Commissioners adjourned.
