Regular semi-monthly meeting of the City Council, January
3fd, 1921. Mayor Lathews presiding, Uity Attorney Buzick and
the following named councilmen answered to roll call; Dyar,
Spaeth, Harne, Campbell, _Jaite, Bradford, Barbee and Carver.
Councilmen Givens and Hoviell absent.
The minutes of the Regular Semi-monthly meeting of llecember
20th, 1920 and the Adjourned Meeting of December 28th, 1920, were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain cla9ans."
On motion of Councilman Dyar the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and'the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyar, Spaeth, Harne,
Campbell, 14aite, Bradford, Barbee and Carver. (8) Nays: (0)
Councilmen Givens and Howell absent. The Mayor approved the same
and is numbered 2367.
Councilman Harne of the Street and Gilley Committee reported
on the following light petitions and recommended that incandes-
cent lights be located at the following places:
Corner of Tenth and Prescott,
Corner of Bond and Highland,
Corner of Park and Olive,
Corner of Ash and Olive.
Council -an Barbee moved that the report of the Committee
be adopted and that the City Clerk notify The Salina Light,
Power & Gas Company to install said lights.
Councilman Dyar moved that if any property owners living
on streets they desire to have paved the coming season, to signi-
fy their desire by petitioning to the Council not later than the
first regular meeting in February, 1921; also all property owners
who desire the construction of new sidewalk should signify their
desire by petitioning to the Council not later than the first
regular meeting in February, 1921.
Councilman Spaeth moved that the curbing in the center of
the street at the intersection of Bishop and Twelfth Street, should
be removed and re -constructed, so as not to interfere with the
traffic at said point.
Chief �Volbert presented the matter of installing a differ-
ent telephone fire alarm system, which was discussed by the N:ay or
and Cou:zc it .
On motion of Councilman 7aite the matter was pJLced in the
hands of the Fire Chief to have the same installed.
Councilman Spaeth moved the City Attorney draft an ordinance
compelling auto garages to install a mud drain in their building
where the sexier is connected with the City Sevier. Notion adopt-
ed.
Counci lman Spaeth moved that the City appropriate the sum
of X25.00 for t -he purchase of newsixpers for the police and fire
department .
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance requir-
ing the keeping of certain records by pawn brokers, loan off ices,
junk dealers and by dealers in used and second hand articles and _
providing a penalty for the violation thereof."
Councilman Campbell ;roved that the ordinance be laid upon
the table.
Councilman Dyar then moved that the second hand dealers pre-
sent an ordinance satisfactory to themselves at the next regular
meet ing.

An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance regu-
lating the crossing of railroad tracks by pedestrians and drivers
of vehicles and providing a penalty for the violation thereof'."
On motion of Councilman ''+a ite the rules of order were sus-
pended for its oondideration by the following vote; Ayes: Dyar,
Spaeth, Harne, Campbell, ldaite, Bradford, Barbee and Carver. (8)
lays: (0) Counc ilrran Givens and Barbee absent.
On motion of Counc ilrr.a n u a it e the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyar; Spaeth, Harner,Camp-
bell, 11,7aite, Bradford, Barbee and Uarver. (8) 1%rays: (0) Coun-
cilmen Givens and Howell absent. The i�%.ayor approved the same
and is numbered 2368.
Applications for license to operate pool halls in the City
of Salina for the first half of 1921 were received from:

Councilman Spaeth moved that license be
granted, and on
roll call motion was adopted by the following
vote; eyes:
Dyar, Spaeth, Campbell, Bradford and Barbee.
