BU- zick and the following named councilmen answered to roll call; Dyar, Spaeth, Howell, Harne, Campbell, 4aite, Bradford and Carver. Councilmen Givens and Barbee absent. The minutes of the .Regular Semi -Monthly Ireeting of aeptember 6th, 1920 were read and approved as read. Dr. Kilbourne of the State Board of Health appeared before the Council and presented the matter of establishing a public clinic in the City of "alina. Councilman Dyar moved that the matter be referred to the a committee to confer with the Board of County Commissioners with a view of establishing a clinic under the jurisdiction of the County and City jointly. IMayor Mathews referred the matter to the Public Health Committee. C. h. Bren, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Council and asked the Mayor and Council to grant a request of the Chamber of Commerce to prohibit parkin automobiles on Santa Fe Avenue from Ash Street to 'Valnut Street, September 30th, 19203, during the hours of the Industrial Parade. Councilman Spaeth moved that tr.e request be granted. An ordinance was introduced entitled-. An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain On motion of Councilman Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its f ina 1 adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyar, Spaeth, Howell, Harne, Campbell, Naite, Bradford, and Carver. (8) Mays: (0) Councilmen Givens and Barbee absent. The Mayor approved the sai,.e and is numbered 2354. Councilman Harne of tr_e Street and Alley Committee suggest- ed that the City should proceed at once to open up Nilson Street from, Fourth Street to Santa Fe Avenue; and called the attention to the i eed of the removal of the curb and gutter across said street to be opened. City Engineer, k. G. u'dakenhut submitted plans and specifi- cations for tl.e above named work. On motion of Councilman Dyar the same were adopted and ap- proved by the Cou icil and the Street and Alley Committee ;vas in- structed to advertise for bids, and let a contract for the above named. work. Counci.lri an Spaeth stated tiLat The Standard Oil Company has commenced to improve the streets leading to their plant by haul- ing cinders, and that the Company would like to receive some as- sistance from tine City. On motion, the Street Commissioner was instructed such help as he would be in position to give. Councilman Bradford of the Building Committee suggested that tine City have a the floor constructed in the front room of the Fire De artrr.ent Building. Councilman Howell moved that the matter be referred to the Building Committee with power to act. Counc ilman :daite stated that the man ,vho lives on the dump grounds intended to vacate the premises soon, and suggested that a new tenant should be placedin charge of the grounds. The matter was referred to the Public Health Committee ,pith power to act. Councilman Bradford stated that the bones of the ele- phant recently killed in the City should be preserved, and, same to be used at some future time in a museum. - Mayor Mathews referred the matter to the Park Committee to investiCa.te and to preserve same if they deemed it advisa- ble . An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance amend- ing certain sections of Ordinance D;o. 1983 being an ordinance entitled,"An ordinance regulating the use of automobiles, motor- cycles and other vehicles on the streets-, avenues and alleys of the City of Salina, Kansas; regulating the passage of pedes- triand upon and over the public streets of the City of Salina; regulating the op ;r�,.t ion of street ears in the City of aalina ; providing penalties for the violation hereof and repealing Ordinances numbered 1521, 1698 and 1782 of said City of Salin, axi repealing such original sections." On motion of Councilman Dyar the rules of order vere sus- pended for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Dyar, Spaeth, I owell , Harne, Campbell, Vaite, Bradford and Car- ver. On motion of Councilman Dyar the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Dyar, Spaeth, Howell, Harne, Campbell, 'JGaite, Bradford and Carver.
