An ordinance vas ink roducec, entitled: "An ordinance ;making
an appropriation for the. payment of certain claims."
On motion of Councilman Spaeth the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll alas call-
ed arid the following vote was had; 4-Ayes:=�tolper, Lyar, Spaeth,
Larne, Campbell, +�&_ite, Lradford, and Garver. (8) lays: (0)
Councilmen Howell and Larbee absent. The td!ayor approved the
same and is numbered 2339.
The appraisers report for the Opening of 'gilson 6tr•eet
from Fourth Street to -anta 1'e avenue was taken up and read as
follows:

the undersiLyned appraisers, appointed to ascertain
the actual value of the land prop,_)sed to be taken and to assess
the damages caused to all other property by reason of the ap-
propriation aid condernation of:

That pursuant to such notice so given as aforesaid, we did.,
upon the 23d day of 1xpril, 1920, at 10 o'clock A. M. of said
day meet at the northwest corner of Lot Two (22), dock Tiventy-
one (21) in Lutchinson's addition, to the City of Salina, Kan-
sas, and from thence did proceed to ascertain the actual value
of the lard so appropriated and condemned without reference to
the projected iriprovemeht_, tete sarrIe beim the land hereinbefore
aescrJ_Led and we Cid ascertain t1 -ie actual Barrages and the bene-
fits done to all other i-)r,oper•ty thereby.
That we assessed against the City of Salina, Kansas, the
ar,;ou,:.t of the benefit to the public generally by reason of the
condemnation and appropriation of said land for the opening
and extending of 1;ilson Street for 'v'ihich use said land was
appropriated aid condemned, and the remainder of such dama-
6es and value :,e assessed against the various lots and parcels
Of lane within the Benefit Listrict heretofore created 41-:ich
,Mill, in our opinion, ire especially benei ited by such improve-
n,ent in the proportion to the actual value or benefit received
by each of such lots or parcels of lard., all of which are shown
by the scl.edule hereto attached and r.arae a part hereof; the
first hand column of which shows the amount assessed against
each lot or tract of land for the benefit received by that
lot or tract of land; the second calurnn of which shows the
ar;;ourit allowed as the value of the land appropriated and con-
demned; and the third or riglit hard column of hhich shows the
an ount of damages alloi ed that tract of land described and set
opposite that amount by reason of t .e appropr•iateion and con-
demnation of a portion thereof.

disinterested. in the proposed improvements. That I will faith-
fully acid honestly make a true, correct and equitable appraise-
rnent fo the actual value of land proposed to be taken without
re.fer•ence to the projected improvements and ascertain and assess
the damages caused thereby and the actual damages done to all
other property thereby and assess azainst the - ity of 2alina,
Kansas, the amount of benefit, to the public ge; era,ly and the
remainder of such danages against the property within the bene
fit district heretofore created and established, which shall in
my opinion be especially benefited by the proposed improvements.

cepted and approved. Motion adopted.

of Salina, tl-ansas, that the excavating, gr:u ing and paving of
Urand Lv enue from the east side e o f Santa i''e i�venue to the Avest
side of Fifth *treet, arid j''ifth :street from the south side of
ur::nd iWenue to the north side of Forrest 2Lvenue,, and, Forrest
:'venue from the east s=ide of Fifth litreet to a point 120 feet
east of the east line of second Street are each and all improve-
ments necessary to be mace acid done, and be it resolved that
such street improvements be made and done.

Counciliran Spaeth moved that the rules of order be suspended
for its consideration and the resolution adopted as read by the
following vote; Ayes: Stolper, 1=yar, Spaeth, 1.[ar•ne, Campbell,
llaite, Bradford, aL d Carver. (8) lays: (0) Council1Y;en Howell Earbee absent.
Councilman 4'raite of the Sidewalk Committee reported that
in the opinion of the Committee the City should not advertise
for bids for the construction of sidewalk at this time.
Councilman Fyar moved tr-:at the rec ommendat ions of the
Committee be adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance re-
gulating oil storage tanks and prescri.birq, conditions under
which they may be' erected and maintained in the City of Salina,
Y,ar:sa s ." —
Councilman Dyar moved that the ordinance be ref --reed back
to the Committee for further investigation. Iv;otion adopted.
Councilman Spaeth of the Sewer and -Drainage Committee
reported favoreibly on the petition from ie Milk i'roducers
Company, asking permission to connect their building with the
public sewer, and moved that permission be granted to said
Company if they construct the necessary manholes and permit
the City to connect with said sewer. City to furnish the ne-
ces.�,:ry wyes to be constructed under the supervision of the
Sewer and Drainage Committee.
Councilman Dyar stated that the Committee on the Fall
Festival asked for the use of the hark the coming fall.
Counciln,an ""paeth moved that the matter be referred to
the nark Committee with power to act.
A petition was received asking for the opening of an
alley from -sh to Farr Streets, bet een Lots 9 and 10 on
Ash atreet and Lots 2 and 3 on Park Street, in Elmdale �%Iddi-
tion. :;acre was referred to the 2treet and Alley Committee.
