Regular semi-monthly meeting of the City Council, January
5th, 1920. ia:ayor v;athews presiding, City lttorney G. ��. Spencer
and the following named councilmen answered to roll call; Stol-
per, Dyar, Spaeth, Harne, Nyberg, Mvaite, Bradford and Peters.
Uourcilmen Howell and Todd absent .
petition was received protesting against the 'Nhite Eagle
Cil Company's location. zAafre was referred to the Corporation
and Franchise Committee.
.Y representative of The jlational refining Company appeared
before the Uouncil in behalf of his company.
Mr. 4. u. Miilikin, et ai., appeared before the Council in
behalf of the citizens, in reference to the action to be taken
on the petition requesting the Mayor and council to take such
action as they deem necessary in the removal of the oil station
located at the corner of h4eventh and North Streets.
The matter was generally discussed and :referred back to
The `'orporation and Franchise Committee to bring in an ordinance
and recorrmenaat i ons at a future meeting.
An ordinance was introduced entitled, "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of certain claims.
On motion of Councilman Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Dyes: Stolper, liyar, Spaeth,
Harne, Ryberg, :Waite, Bradford and Peters. (8) Pays: (0)
Councilmen Howell and Todd absent . The Miayor approved the same
and is numbered 4306.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance vacat-
ing the alley running from Barer street to 'Phillips Street through
the block between Cedar Street and Spruce Street in Phillip's
Third Addition to the Uity of Salina, Kansas. --
On motion of Councilman Peters the rules of order were
suspended for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes:
jtolper, Dyar, Spaeth, Harne, Nyberg, Waite, Bradford and Peters.
(8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Howell and Todd absent.
On motion of Gounc ilman Harne the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stolper, Dyar, Sapeth,
Harne, Kyberg, Yaite, Bradford and Peters. (8) Nays: (0) Coun-
cilmen Howell and Todd absent. The U''ayor approved the same and
is numbered X307.
Iouncilrran Spaeth moved that an incandescent light be locat-
ed in the alley between aeventh Street and Santa Fe Avenue from
ksh street to Elm Street, and that the City Clerk notify The Sa-
lina Light, Power & Uas kompany to locate said light.
vouncilman Bradford moved that Amerman and Snyder, who were
awarded the contract for the construction of certain sewers, be-
cember 16th, 19192
proceed at once to construct the same . Notion
adopted.
U ouncilman Dyar of the "arks and Parking Committee submit-
ted a proposition from r. L. Gebha rt for the purchase of a tract
of ground known as riverside Park.
The matter was generally discussed and referred back to the

Gouncilman Spaeth moved that the same be granted, and on
roll call the following vote was had; Ayes: Stolper, Dyar,
Spaeth and. Bradford (4) i;ays: Harne, Ryberg, 'site and Peters
(4) Councilmen Howell and Todd absent. There being a tie no
definite action was taken.
(,ity Engineer, Y. G. Wakenhut, submitted plans and speci-
fications and estimate of cost for the curbing, guttering, ex-
cavating, grading and paving of Putnam; -venue from the south
line of South street to the north line of T'orrison Avenue.
Same were adopted and approved by the council.
A petition was received asking for the curbing, gutter-
ing, excavating, grading ar:d paving of Eleventh Street from
the north line of State :street to the south line of Ash Street.
Same was referred to the =)treet and nlley Gommittee.
A petition was received asking for the widening of xepub-
lic avenue from Santa Fe Avenue to nighland -venue . Same was
referred to the E)treet and Alley Committee.
on motion of Councilman Aaite, Council adjourned.
