vidinf for the paving, excavating, and grading of certain alleys
in the City of Salina, Kansas, spe cifying the manner of construc-
tion, providing for the cost thereof and the manner of payment."
On motion of Councilman Peters the rules of order were sus-
pended for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Grimes,
Smith, Spaeth, Brown) Naite, Todd and Peters. (7) Nays: (0)
Councilmen Underwood, Reed and Richolson absent.
On motion of councilman Smith the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; eyes: Grimes, Smith, Sapeth
Brown, aaite, Todd and Peters. (7) Nays: (0) Councilmen Under-

City Engineer, P. G. Wakenhut, stated that there are sever-
al pieces of sewer, also catchbasins to be constructed in advance
of the proposed paving jobs, and he submitted plans and specifica-
tions

tions and estimate of cost for the same.
Councilman Spaeth moved that same be adopted and approved
by the Iouncil, and that the City Clerk be instructed to adver-
tise for bids for the construction of the above named sewer. Bids
to be received up to and including Alonday, April 21st, 1919 at
eight o'clock.
Councilman Spaeth moved that the Street Commissioner noti-
fy the property owners of the sidewalk that is condemned.

i A communication was received from The Missouri Pacific
Railway Company, asking the Council for a permit to extend their
platform sixteen (16) feet on Seventh and Eighth Streets, adja-
cent to their freight depot. The matter was referred to the
Street and Alley Committee for investigation.
Sidewalk Committee reported favorable on the petition
asking for a sidewalk on the west side of Front Street from Elm
to Fine Streets.
A petition was received asking; for the construction of a
sewer in the alley south of Park Place from Oakdale Drive to
Oakdale Avenue. "ar_�e was referred to the Sewer and Drainage
Committee.
�i petition was received askin for extension of water mains
on Kirwin t1venue from Santa Fe Avenue east to the railroad.
Same was referred to the Corporation and Franchise Comr:iittee.
A petition was received asking; for the construction of a
sidewalk on the east side of Ninth Street adjacent to Lots 74-
76 and 78, Grounds of Kansas Wesleyan University Addition. Same
was referred to the Sidewalk Committee.
There being no further business appearing, the present Coun-
cil adjourned and the newly elected Mayor and Councilmen being
present, the oath of office was administered by the City Clerk
