Regular semi-monthly meeting of the City. Council, September
16th, 1918. Mayor Mathews presiding, and the following named
councilmen answered to roll call; Underwood, Spaeth, Smith,
Reed, Brown, 'Waite and l'nrtt. Councilmen Grimes, Richolson
and Peters absent, also City Attorney G. A. Spencer.
The minutes of the Regular semi-monthly meeting of September
2nd, 1918 were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "Qn ordinance mak-
ing an appropriation for the payment of certain claims."
On motion of Councilman Brown the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Underwood, Smith,
Spaeth, Reeci, Brown, .1aite and Peters. (7) Tdays; (0) Council-
men Grimes, Richolson and Peters absent. The P,layor approved the
same and is numbered 2212.
Councilman Spaeth moved that. the City purchase 5,000 feet
of 10 -inch sewer pipe and that the P.Ilayor and Sewer Committee
be authorized to enter into a contract for the same. motion
adopted.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On ^lotion of Councilman Brown the rules of order were sus-
pended for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Under-
wood Smit'., Spaeth, Reed, Brown, Jlaite and Todd. (7) Nays:
(0) Councilmen Grimes Richolson and Peters absent.
On motion of Councilman Smith the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption tl-e roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Underwood, Smith, Spaeth,
Reed, Brown, Waite and Todd. (7) Nays: (0) Councilmen Grimes,
Richolson and Peters absent. The il,layor approved the same and is
numbered 2213.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance amend-
ing certain sections of Ordinance No. 1618 and repealing said
original sections so amended.
On motion of Councilman Smith the rules of order viere sus-
pended for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes:
Underwood, Smith, Spaeth, Reed, Brown, Waite and. Todd. (7)
Nays: (0) Councilmen Grimes, Richolson and Peters absent.
On motion of Councilman Smith the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Smith, Spaeth, Reed,
Waite and Todd. (5) flays: Underwood. (1) Councilman Brown
not voting and Councilmen Grimes, Richolson and Peters absent.
The I;Iayor declared the ordinance not adopted.
Councilman Brown moved that the Park Committee be authorized
to lease Highland Oourt Park for farming purposes for the coming
year. r-.otion adopted.
Counciliian Smith moved that the Park Committee be authorized
to have the ground in Kenwood Park plowed and leveled off ready
for spring crop. I,ot ion adopted.
Councilman Waite moved that the P•-, rk C",m:it.te:: Sao instructed
to have some protection constructed to protect the high fill on
the west side of the race track recently constructed by the City,
in Kenwood Park. Motion adopted.
Councilman Spaeth moved that the Fayor be instructed to
notify Iiowell's Salina Irlunicipa.l Band to give concer'us Sunday aftern
coons in the City Park, and on roll call the motion was carried
by the following vote; Ayes: Underwood, ;ipaeth Reed, and Brown.

olson and Peters absent.
The matter of disposing of the 'police Car and purchasing a
new one was generally discussed by the Iiayor and Council.

Councilman Smith moved that the matter be referred to
the Mayor and a special committee, with power to make exchange
if they deem it advisable. Motion adopted.

Mayor Mathews appointed Councilmen Brown, Reed and Peters
to act as such Special Committee.

Police Judge and Fire Chief were received and ordered field.
On motion of Councilman Brown, Council adjourned.
