AUGUST 9th, 1918
Special Called Meeting of the City Council, August 9th,
1918. Mayor Mathews presiding, and the following named council-
men answered to roll call; Underwood, Grimes, Smith, Spaeth,
Richolson, Brown, Waite, Todd and Peters. City Attorney G. A.
Spencer and Councilman Reed absent.
The request and call for meeting and report of service on
the same was read as follows:

City of Salina, Kansas .
We , the undersigned members of the City C ounc i 1 of the City
of Salina, Kansas, hereby request you to call a Special P,.Reeting
of the City Council to meet in the Council Chamber, Friday eve-
ning, August 9th, 1918 at 8 O'clock for the purpose of "Considering
and taking action on remtitting carnival license to The Saline
County Agricultural, Horticultural and Mechanical Association,
also whether or not Section Three (3) of Ordinance No. 2194 shall
be enforced during the date of the Saline County Fair."

In compliance with the above and foregoing request and for
the purpose therein named, I hereby call a Special r.:Teeting of the
City Council of Salina, to meet on the 9th day of August, 1918,
at 8 o'clock P. M. at the Council Chamber in said City, and the
City Marshal is hereby directed to notify each of the Councilmen
and City Attorney of said meeting and make due return of said
notice hereon.

I hereby certify that I have notified Councilmen ,Taite, Brown,
Todd, Peters, Spaeth, Richolson, Grimes, Underwood, Smith and Feed
of the above mentioned Special Meeting by reading to each of said
Councilmen the above and foregoing call for such meeting in person.
City Attorney G. A. Spencer out of the City.
F. D. Blundon and Fred H. Quincy appeared before the Council
in the interest of the Saline County Fair Association, asking the
Council if they would remit carnival license for carnival to be
held during the Fair geek from September 3rd to 7th, 1918, inclu-
sive; and asked what the 6ouncil's intentions are on the matter of
enforcing Section Three (3) of Ordinance No, 2194.
Councilman Todd moved that the Carnival License for carnival
to be held during the Saline County Fair Meek from September 3rd
to 7th, 1918, inclusive, be remitted. Motion adopted.
