Mayor Mathews presiding, City Attorney G. — pencer and the following named councilmen answered to roll call Grimes, Smith, Spaeth, Richolson, Brown, 71dite and Peters. Councilmen Underwood, Reed and Todd absent. The minutes of the Regular semi-monthly meeting of July 15th 1918; special meeting of July 22nd, 1918; Adjourned Meet- ing of July 22nd, 1918; and Adjourned Meeting of July 26th, 1918, were read and approved as read. Captain Millard Knowlton, Medical Director of the U. S. Army appeared before the Council and submitted certain ordin- ances that the State Board of Health desires the Council to pass. Councilman Peters moved that the matter be referred to the Public Health Committee for investigation and recommenda- tions. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinAnce mak- ing an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Councilman Peters the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was call- ed and the following vote was had; Ayes- Grimes Smith, Spaeth, Richolson, Brown., Waite and Peters.' (7) hays: (0) Council- men Underwood, Reed and Todd absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2202. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak- ing an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Councilman Brown the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Grimes, Smithy Spaeth, Richolson, Brown, Waite, and Peters. (70 Ilays: (0) Councilmen Underwood, Reed and Todd absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2203. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance letting a contract for public concerts in the city of Salina, Kansas." On motion, the above eint itled ordinance was referred to the Ways and Means Committee. Councilman Spaeth of the Sewer and Drainage Committee reported that the drainage of the new sewer on Santa Fe Avenue and Ninth Street. by having the catchbas ins located in the al- ley instead of extending the sewer to the corner of the two streets, was., in their opinion not satisfactory. The matter was referred to the sewer and Drainage commit- Street and Alley Committee for investigation and tee and the recommendations to report at the next meeting. Councilman Smith of the Public Health Committee suggest- ed that the City should have signs painted regulating the dump- ing of refuse at the City dump grounds .
