COUNCIL CHAMBER,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JULY 22nd, 1918
Special Session of the Mayor and Council, July 22nd,
1918, for the pprpose of hearing and considering any com-
plaints that may be made by property owners as to the valua-
tion placed on certain lots and pieces of ground on which
to base the cost of excavating, grading and paving Penn
Avenue from the north line of Iron Avenue to the north line
of Ash Street.
Mayor Mathews presiding, City Attorney G. A. Spencer
and the following named councilmen answered to roll call.;
Underwood, Urimes, Smith, Spaeth, Reed, Richolson, Brown,
Waite, Todd and Peters.
The appraisers report for the excavating, grading and
paving Penn Avenue from the north line of Iron Avenue to the
north line of Ash Street was taken up and read as follows:

We, Byron Wilder,.M. E. Ford and W. M. Garrison,
being duly sworn according to maw, each for himself, does
hereby solemnly swear that he is an owner of real estate -in
the City of Salina. Saline County, Kansas, and is disinter-
ested in any of the property liable to special assessment
for the cost of excavating, grading and paving Penn Avenue
! from the north line of Iron-Xvenue to the north line of
Ash Street as more particularly described and provided for
in Ordinance 11o. 2190 of the City of Salina; and that each
of us will to the best of our judment and ability maek a
true and impartial appraisement op all the lots and pieces
of ground abutting to on such respective streets as above
described, without regard to the buildings or improvements
thereon, the distance to be improved as set forth and
designated blT the =layor and Council in said Ordinance ITo.

Appraisers.
Councilman Broim moved that the appraisement on Lot
7,
Block 3, Uakdale Addition, be reduced from $550 to $525;
and
that the appraisement on Lot 5, Block 3, Oakdale Additi on
be
raised from X400 to 1,450; and appraisement on Lot 1, Blk.
4,
Oakdale Addition be reduced from X600 to $525.00
On motion of Councilman Underwood the appraisers report
for
the excavating, grading and paving of Penn Avenue from
the
north line of Iron Avenue to the north line of Ash Street
be
adopted as amended. P=ot ion adopted.
On motion of Councilman Waite, Special Session adjourned.
