COUNCIL CHAMBER,

APRIL 19th, 1918.
Adjourned meeting of the City Council, April 19th, 1918. City
Attorney G. A. Spencer and the following named councilmen answered
to roll call; Underwood, Grimes, Smith, Spaeth, Richolson, Brown,
Waite, Todd and Peters. Mayor I�iathews and Couricilrrnan Reed absent.
On motion of Councilman Waite, the Council proceeded to elected a
President of the Council.
L. C. Underwood was nominated, and was unanimously elected, and
immediately took charge of the meeting.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance providing
for the exchange of certain streets and extending Oakdale Avenue."
On motion of Councilman Todd the rules of order were suspend-
ed for :its consideration by the following vote; Ages: Underwood,
Grimes, Smith, Spaeth, Richolson, B. -own, 'Waite, Todd and Peters. (9)
Nays: (0) Councilman Reed absent.
011. motion of Councilman Todd the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the fol-
lowing vote was had; Ayes: Underwc)od, Grimes, Smith, Spaeth, Rich-
olson, Brown, 77aite'Todd and Peters. (9) Nays: (0) Councilman
Reed absent. The President of the Council and Acting Mayor approved
the same and is numbered 2173.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance amending
Ordinance "0. 2167, being an ordinance entitled, "An ordinance ap-
pointing appraisers, fixing their compensation and providing for
the condemnation and appropriation of land for a right of way or ease-
ment for the construction of certain sewers in the city of Salina,
Kansas."
On motion of Councilman Smith the rules of order were suspended
for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Underwood, Grimes,
Smith, Spaeth, Richolson, Brown, 'laite, Todd and Peters. (9) Hays:
(0) Councilman Reed absent.
On motion of Councilman reters the ordinance was read and
adoiDted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Underwood, Grirrles, Srni.th,
Spaeth, Richolson, Broti,,rn, Ifiaite, Todd and Peters. (9) ,jays: (0)
Councilman Reed absent. President of the Council and Acting � a.yor
approved the same and is numbered 2174.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance providing
for the construction of curtain sewers in the city of Salina, Kansas,
letting the c0ntr_.ct therefor and providing for the payment of the
cost of the same."
On motion of Councilrrian Brown the rules of order were suspended
for its consideration by the follo-:?ing vote; Ayes: Underwood,
Grimes, Smith, Spaeth, Richolson, :gown, cite, Todd and Peters. (9)
Mays: (0) Councilman Reed absent.
On motion of Councilman Smith the ordinance was read and adopt-
ed by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the
following vote was had; Ayes: Underwood, Grimes, Smith, Spaeth, -
Rivholson, Brown, Naite, Todd and Peters. (9) hays: (0) Council-
man Reed absent. Presidnet of the Council and Acting P:Iayor approved
the same and is numbered 2175.
A communication from the Union Pacific Railroad Company in refer-
ence to the construction of sewers under their tracks, was received,
and on motion of Councilman Brown was ordered filed.
A petition was received asking for the excavating and paving of
Penn Avenue from Iron Avenue to Ash Street. Same was referred to the
Street and Alley Committee.
On motion of Councilman Brown, Council adjourned.
