APRIL 5th, 1918.
BE IT REMEMBERED, That on this Friday evening, April 5th,
1918, the Mayor and Councilmen met as a Board of Canvassers (ex -
officio) as provided by law, to canvass the vote cast at the City
Election held in Salina, Kansas, April 2nd, 1918.
mayor 141athews presiding, City Attorney G. A. Spencer and
the following named councilmen answered to roll call; Underwood, --
Grimes, Henry, Smith, Mishler, Reed, Brown, Waite, Todd and
Peters.
The returns of the City Election were presented by the City
Clerk and opened by the Mayor in the presence of the Councilmen
assembled, duly canvassed and the result declared, and.the City
Clerk was directed by vote of the Canvassing Board to spread upon
the Journal the result of the canvass which is done as follows:

vass that the Canvassing Board finds that the following named E

Councilman Third ".'ard ---- C. A. Richolson,
Councilman, Fourth aard --- (Tie and no lot cast by the
Judges. 1 -To Election)
Councilman, Fifth w7ard ---- F. C. Peters.
And the City Clerk made record as t.e result of the can-
vass that the Canvassing Board finds that the first proposition,
"Shall the i;-iayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina, Kansas,
grant licenses for and permit pool and billiard halls to oper-
ate within the City of Salina, Kansas," was legally defeated
by the following vote:
For the proposition ------ 667
Against the proposition --- 988
And the City Clerk made record as the result of the canvass
that the Canvassing Board finds that the second proposition,
"Shall the city of Salina, Kansas, levy a tax of two-tenths
'~ (.0002) mills on the dollar for the creation of a Municipal Band
Fund", was legally carried by the following vote:
For the proposition ------ 1243
Against the proposition -- 357
On motion of Councilman Brown the report and findings of
the Canvassing Board were received and ordered spread upon the
journal.
On motion of Councilman Brown, Canvassing Board adjourned.
