FEBRUARY 25th, 1918. --,
Adjourned meeting of the City Council, February 25th, 1918,
Mayor Mathews presiding, and the following named councilmen answer-
ed to roll call; Underwood, Grimes, Henry, Mishler, Reed, Brown, Waite,
Todd and Peters. City Attorney G. A. Spencer and Councilman Smith
absent.
An ordinance was introduced enetitled: "An ordinance providing
for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the city of Salina, Kansas,
in the sum of $5,415.02, to pay the cost of improving certain streets
in said City."
On motion of Councilman Brown the rules of order were suspend-
ed for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Underwood,
Grimes, Henry, mishler, Reed, Brown, Waite, Todd and Peters. (9)
Nays: (0) Councilman Smith absent.
On motion of Councilman Peters the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Undetwood, Grimes, Henry,
Mishler, Reed, Brown, Waite, Todd and Peters. (9) Nays: (0)
Councilman Smith absent. The Mlayor approved the same and is num-
bered 2156.
The following resolution was introduced:
WHEREAS, it has been shown to the Mayor and Councilmen
that there are three persons on Wilson Street west of Santa Fe Aven-
ue, who desire to become tenants of The Salina Water Works Company
for domestic purposes and that in order to permit such persons to
become such tenants that it will be necessary for said Company to
lay not to exceed one hundred eighty (180) feet of pipe for that pur-
pose, Now Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, By the Mayor and Councilmen of the City
of Salina, That the Salina Water Works Company be and it is hereby
directed to lay and install a two-inch water pipe for domestic
purposes only on Wilson Street in said City, west from Santa r,e Aven-
ue, and to connect the same with its present mains now laid on Santa
fe Avenue and run said pipe west on said Wilson Street for a distance
not to exceed one hundred eighty (180) feet to permit such persons
to become tenants of The Salina Water Works Company for domestic
purposes only.

On motion of Councilman Mishler the rules of order were sus-
pended for its consideration and the resolution adopted as read by
the following vote; Ayes: Underwood, Grimes, Henry, Mishler, Reed,
Brown, Waite, Todd and Peters. (9) Nays: (0) Councilman Smith
absent.
County Attorney and Probate Judge appeared before the Council,
in the matter of appointing a Probation Officer, to work in connec-
tion with the County and City.
On motion, the I:Iayor was empowered to confer with the Probate
Judge.
Councilman Mishler moved that the Mayor be authorized to ap-
point three additional firemen if he deemed it necessary.
Mayor Mathews appointed Geo. Barneck, as Assistant Fire Chief
to fill vacancy, and on motion of Councilman Brown the appointment
was confirmed.
On motion of Councilman Brown, Council adjourned.
