An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance provid- ing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas, in the sum of $29,128.83, to pay the costs of improving certain streets in said City." On motion of Councilman Brown the rules of order were suspend- ed for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Underwood, Grimes, Henry, Smith, Mishler, Brown, Waite and Todd. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Reed and Peters. absent. On motion of Councilman Henry the ordinance was read and adopt- ed by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Underwood, Grimes, Henry, Smith, ITishler, Brown, Waite and Todd. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Reed and ±'eters absent. The 1-ayor approved the sarr:e and is numbered 2141. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance levying and assessing special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the city of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, excavating and paving Front Street in the City of Salina, from the south line of Iron Avenue to a point about sixty-five (65) feet south of the south line of an alley running east and west through Block Fourteen (14) in Oakdale Addition to the city of Salina, Kansas." Blundon appeared before the Council in behalf of The Defense League, stating that the County commissioners had agreed to pay the room rent for the league, and asked if the Council would help to defray other expenses. Lzordon, for a pool hall license was presented, and on motion, the Mayor was requested to appoint a committee to investigate said application and report at the next meeting. D!iayor Mathews appointed Councilmen Smith, Henry and Brown to act as such Committee. Councilman Brown moved that the Mayor appoint a committee of the Council to confer with the Fair Board in reference to the lease of Kenwood Park, in return for the lease to be given on Oak- dale Park. Mayor Mathews appointed Councilmen Waite, Brown and Henry to act as such committee. Councilman Mishler moved that the City Attorney draft the necessary resolution for the curbing, guttering, excavating and paving of Oakdale Drive from the south end of the present pave- ment on Front Street to the Oakdale Park gate. PIotion adopted. On motion of Councilman Henry, Council adjourned. City Clerk.
