COUNCIL CHAMBRE,
SALINA, KANSAS.
DECEMBER 17th, 1917
Special session of the Mayor and Council, Lecember 17th,
1917, for the purpose of hearing complaints from property owners
as to the valuation placed on certain lots and pieces of ground
in the city of Salina, Kansas, to base the cost of curbing, gut -
tering, excavating, grading and paving Front Street in the city
of Salina, Kansas, from the south line of Iron avenue to a point
about sixty-five (65) feet south of the south line of an alley
running east and west through Block Fourteen (14) in Oakdale
Addition to the city of Salina, Kansas.
Mayor Mathews presiding, City Attorney G. A. Spencer and
the following named councilmen answered to roll call: Underwood,
Grimes, Henry, Smith, Mishler, Brown, Waite, Todd and Peters.
Councilman Reed absent.
The appraisers report for the curbing, guttering, excavat-
ing, grading and paving of Front Street from the south line of
Iron Avenue to a point about sixty-five (65) feet south of the
south line of an alley running east and west through Block Four-
teen (14) in Oakdale Addition to the City of Salina, Kansas, was
taken up and read as follows:

We, E. L. Wilder, C. B. Kirtland and M. E. Ford,
being duly and severally sworn according to law, each for himself,
does hereby solemnly swear that he is the owner of real estate
in the city of Salina, Saline County, Kansas, and is disinterested
in any of the property liable to special assessment for the cost
of curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving Front
Street in the city of Salina, Kansas, from the south line of Iron
Avenue to a point about sixty-five (65) feet south of the south
line of an alley running east and west through Block Fourteen
(14) in Oakdale "ddition to the City of Salina, Kansas, as more
particularly described and provided for in Ordinance No. 2110 of
the City of Salina; and that each of us will to the best of our
judgment and ability make a true and impartial re-appraisement
of all the lots and pieces of ground abutting on such respective
streets as above described, without regard to the buildings or
improvements on said lots and pieces of ground, the distance to
be improved,a s set forth and designated by the Mayor and Coun-
cil in said ordinance No. 2110. So help us God.

We, the undersigned appraisers duly appointed and qualified,
for the purpose of appraising the property subject to taxation
for the paving of Front Street, Salina, Kansas, from the south
line of Iron Avenue, to the south end of the paving as now laid,
said point being about 65 feet south of south line of an alley
running east and west through Block fourteen (14) in Oakdale Addi-
tion in said City and State.

On motion of Councilman Henry the appraisers report for
the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of Front
Street, from the south line of Iron Avenue, to a point about sixty-
five (65) feet south of the south line of an alley running east
and west through Block Fourteen (14) In Oakdale Addition to the
City of Salina, Kansas, was adopted as read. Motion adopted.
On motion of Councilman Smith, Special Session adjourned.
