Adjourned meeting of the City Council, October 22nd, 1917.
Mayor Mathews presiding, City Attorney G. A. Spencer and the follow-
ing named councilmen answered to roll call; Underwood, Grimes,
Henry, Smith, Mishler, Reed, Brown and Todd. Councilmen Waite and
Peters absent.
Bids were received for the construction of the Retaining
Walls on Kenwood Bridge as follows:
Wright Norton, Q996.25
Snyder & Tuttle, 1025.00
Councilman Brown moved that the bids be referred back to the
Street and Alley Committee, and Mayor with power to act. Motion
adopted.
A petition was received asking for the construction of a sewer
on Eleventh Street, from the end of the present sewer at Charles
Street to Crawford Avenue; also for a sewer on Bond Street to Ninth
Street, thence north to connect with sewer south of Crawford Aven-
ue. Same were referred to the Sewer and Drainage Committee.
A communication was received from L. C. Housel, in reference
to the Firemens Insurance, which expires November 10th, 1917.
On motion of Councilman Mishler the matter was referred to
the Mayor and The Ways and Means Committee. Motion adopted.
An application was presented from M. Pazer, for a Junk Deal-
er's An
at 227 North Santa Fe Avenue.
Councilman Brown moved that the license be granted, and on
roll call the motion was lost.
Councilman Brown moved that the Mayor instruct the police to
have the place at 227 North Santa Fe Avenue cleaned up and business
discontinued. Motion adopted.
Councilman Mishler moved that the City Attorney and City En-
gineer prepare as soon as possible, the assessment ordinance for
the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of:
Santa Fe Avenues from the main line right of way of the
Union Pacific Railroad to Otis Avenue;
Otis Avenue, from Ninth Street to Santa Fe Avenue,
Ninth Street, from the main line right of way of the Union
Pacific Railroad to Otis Avenue;
Wilson Street, from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the
east line of Highland Avenue;
North Street, from the east line of Ninth Street to the west
line of Fourth Street.
On motion of Councilman Reed, Council adjourned.
