Special session of the Mayor and Council, October 22nd, 1917, for the purpose of hearing and considering complaints frorp property owners as to the vlauation placed on certain lots and pieces of ground,to pay the cost of curbing and guttering, exca- vating, grading and paving: Santa Fe Avenue, from the north line of the main line right of way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company to the south line of Otis Avenue; Otis Avenues, from the east line of Santa Fe Avenue to the west line of Ninth Street; Ninth Street, from the south line of the main line right of way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company to the north line of Otis Avenue; Wilson Street, from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the east line of Highland Avenue; North Street ,_ from the east line of Ninth Street to the west line of Fourth Street. Mayor Mathews presiding, City Attorney G. A. Spencer and the following named councilmen answered to roll call; Underwood, Grimes, Smith, Mishler, Reed, Brown and Todd. The appraisers report for the curbing, guttering, excavat- ing, grading, and paving of Santa Fe Avenue from the north line of the Union Pacific main line right of way to the south line of Otis avenue, was taken up and read as follows: STATE OF KANSAS ) ) SS. COUNTY OF SALINE ) We, John Frederick, M. E. Ford and Wm. Garrison, being duly and severally sworn according to law, each for himself, does hereby solemnly swear that he is an owner of real estate in the city of Salina, Saline County, Kansas, and is disinterested in any of the property liable to special assessment for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of Santa Fe Avenue, from the north line of the main line right of way of the Union Pacific Railroad to south line of Otis Avenue, as more particularly described and provid- ed for in Ordinance No. 2035 of the City of Salina; and that each of us will to the best of our judgment and ability make a true and impartial appraisement of all the lots and pieces of ground abut- ting on such respective streets as above described, without regard to the buildings pr improvements thereon, the distance to be im- proved, as set forth and deisgnated by the Mayor and Council in said Ordinance No. 2035.
