Mayor Putnam presiding, City Attorney W • B • Crowther and the following named councilmen answered to roll call; Miller, Under- wood, Wolff, Henry, Brown, Mathews and Bateman. Councilmen Swe- denburg, Mishler and Ostberg absent. Councilman Brown moved that the name of W. B- Crowther as City Attorney be stricken from the roll call; Mayor Putnam ruled the motion out of order. Councilman Brown moved that an appeal be taken from the chair and the following motion was put by the Mayor, "Shall the decision of the Mayor be sustained" ? and on roll call the following vote was had; Ayes: Bateman. (1) Nays: Miller, Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Brown and Mathews. (6) Councilmen Swedenburg, Mishler and Ostberg absent. Councilman Brown's original mot ion was then put and the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Under- wood, Wolff, Henry, Brown and Mathews. (6) Nays: Bateman (1) Councilmen Swedenburg, Ylishler and Cstberg absent. Councilman Henry of the Parks & Parking Committee recommend- ed the acceptance of "— L• Smith's and J. B. Berkle's bid for the painting and decorating of the band shell, for 1.139.00 Councilman Brown moved that the report and recommendations be accepted. Councilman Bateman moved that the contract be awarded to Smith and Berkley as per their bid. Said contractors to give a three year guarantee on their work. Motion adopted. Plans and specifications and City Engineer's estimate of cost for the voting place on North Seventh Street was received and adopted. Bids for constructing the above named building, were received, as follows: John Bergquist and Wm. Russell. Councilman Brown moved that all bids be rejected, the same being over the Engineer's estimate. Motion adopted. Councilman Bateman moved that the constructing of the build- ing be placed in the hands of the Buildin Committee, to have the same constructed at a cost not, to exceed 700.00 Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance extend- ing the limits, of the Cit.r of Salina." On motion of Councilman Brown the rules of order were suspend- ed for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Brown, Mathews and -Bateman. (7) Nays: (0) Gouncilrren Swedenburg, Mishler and Ostberg absent. On motion of Councilman Bateman the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was tailed and the following vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Brown, Mathews and Bateman. (7) Nays: (0) douncilmen Swedenturg, Mishler and Ostberg absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2028. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance relat- ing to intoxicating liquors." On motion of Councilman Brown the rules of order were sus- pended for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Brown, Vathews and Bateman. (7) Nays: (0) Councilmen Swedenburg, Mishler and Ostberg absent. On motion of Councilman 'holff the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Brown, Mathews and Bateman. (6) Nays: Miller, (1) Council- men Swedenburg, Mishler and Ostberg absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2029. Councilman Wolff moved that the Mayor appoint a Special Com- mittee to take an inventory of all intoxicating liquors consecra- ted by the Police, also any moneys or personal property in the hands of the Police Department, taken from prisoners. Motion adopted. Mayor Putnam appointed a Special Committee composed of �oun- c ilmen Mathews, Brown and Ostberg .to bring in a report at the next Regular Meeting.
