Mayor Putnam presiding, City Attorney V • B. Crosther and the fol- lowing named councilmen answered to roll call; Miller, Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Swedenburg, Mishler, Ostberg and Brown. Council- men Mathews and Bateman absent. The minutes of the Regular Semi-monthly meeting of November 6th, 1916, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance vacating a part of Bond Street, in the City of Salina, between Front and. Fourth Street, and a ten foot strip of ground used as an alley or driveway lying east of the east line of fourth Street between said Bond Street and Wilson Street ." On motion of Councilman Swedenburg the rules of order were suspended for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Swedenburg, Mishler, Ostberg and Brown. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Mathews and Batemari. absent. On motion of Councilman Miller the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and t: -ie following vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Swedenburg, Mishler, Ostberg and Brown. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Mathews and Bateman. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 1999. A remonstrance against the paving, curb ing, guttering and excavating of Eleventh Street, from South Street to Morrison Aven- ue was received and referred to the Street and Alley Committee. The appraisers report for the opening, widening and extending Riverside Boulevard in the City of Salina, from Ohio Avenue to Oakdale Avenue was received and on motion of Councilman Henry the report was adopted and ordered filed. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance providng for the construction of certain sidewalk in the City of Salina, Kan- sas." On motion of Councilman Swedenburg the rules of order were suspended for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Swedenburg, 'Mishler, Ostberg and Brown. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Mathews and Bateman absent. On motion of Councilman Henry the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was call- ed and the following vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Wolff, Henry, Swedenburg, Mishler, Ostberg and Brown. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Mathews and Bateman absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 2000. Councilman Wolff moved that legal action be taken against the Salina Street Railway Company for excavating on North Ninth Street, without first having taken out a permit, and on roll call the motion was lost and the matter was referred to The Street and Alley Commit- tee for adjustment. City Attorney - B. Crowther, made a verbal report on the claim of C • A • Converse, and the matter was referred to The Claims and Expenditure Committee. Complaint was entered against D. S • LaShelle for shipping in merchandise and selling the same at his auction stand at the corner of Fifth Street and Iron Avenue, also for keeping live stock on said lot. The matter was referred to the City Attorney for investi- gation. nvesti- gation. Councilman Henry of the Parks and Parking Committee reported and recommended the purchase of Lots 8, 9, and 10, Block_ 71 Calkin's Addition, in the City of Salina, Kansas, to be used as a voting place in the north precinct of the Second Ward. I TRA7 On motion of Councilman Brown the report of the Committee was adopted with the understanding that if they could find any other property that would be more desirable to substitute it instead of the property named in the report. City Attorney was instructed to prepare the necessary ordin- ance for the condemning of the above named property. On motion of Councilman Ostberg, Council adjourned. City Clerk. 1 1 I�
