T"ayor Putnam presiding, City Attorney E. Crowther and the following named councilmen answered to roll call; Ir"filler, Underwood, Carney, olff, .-"ishler, Hagler, Ostberg and PE"athews. Councilmen "wedenburg and E^teri:an absent. The minutes of the Regular semi-monthly meeting of December 6th, 1915, were read and approved as read. '.ays and T:eans Committee reported on an ordinance entitled: ".Ln ordinance amending Section One (1) of Ordinance !to. 1665, passed and approved June 24, 1012, ane repealing such original section." On motion of Councilman '-i olff the rules of order :sere suspend- ed for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: L'i iller, Under.^rood, Carney, `;olff, T,"ishler, Hagler, Ostberg and ieathews. (B) Nays: (0) Councilmen Ssiredenburg and Bateman absent. On motion of Councilman L ishler the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the follo,iing vote was had; Ayes: hiller, Underwood, Carney, 7 olff I T, ishler, Hagler, Ostberg and Py=atheti:rs . Nays: (0) Councilmen Swedenburg and Bateman absent. The ayor approved the same and is numbered 1912. Claims and :;expenditure Committee reported. that they had a bill from J- --• Iiumtill for trees planted in the City Park, between Second and Third Streets, north of 'lm Street, which had not been Ok' d by the Park Comriittee . councilman L ishler roved that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up a contract, and submit the same to Tdr. Rumrill for his signature, guaranteeing the trees to leaf out in the spring of 191.7. Tdiot ion adopted. Councilman Carney moved that the Park Committee look into the matter of planting the trees, and to have the ground put in shape. A petition was received askin67 for the paving, curbing, r�-utter- ing and excavating of Phillips Street, from the south line of the right-of-way of the Union Pacific Railroad Company to the south line of the TLV issouri racific Railway Company. Same was referred to the Street and 'lley Committee. The matter of additional catchbasins ras generally discussed, and the same was refe rred. to the Sewer and Drainage Committee and the City En"ineer with poorer to act. Councilman Hagler called the attention to the council of the are light located on Iron Avenue near the new cement bridge, the same not being needed on account of the "shite ":'ay system. The mat- ter was referred to the Street and Alley Committee to decide on a new location to move said light. Councilman :"iller rioved that the City Clerk notify the Street Car Company and The Missouri Pacific Rail Company -ray to have the standard crossing removed from the old dI is sour i Pac if is track on Ninth Street. T_otion adopted. Councilman 7!olff moved that the City Clerk notify the Street Car Company to construct a plank crossing twenty (20) feet in width, across their tracks on Eighth and orth Streets. Yotion adopted. 25-2 The chan�rin� of the intersection on Ninth and Park streets, on account of the construction of the Street Railway was ,renerally discussed, and the matter was referred to the Street and Alley Com- mittee and the City Engineer, to confer with the Street Car Company to see if they would not agree to bear a portion of the cost of said ir:provement . A communication from the different plumbers of the City, in reference to the "Plur;!bing Ordinance", was received and referred to the Corporation and. Franchise Committee. Councilman i, il.ler moved that the Street and alley Committee have the railing at the ez:est end of the ':1alnut Street bridge repaired at once. It was reported that there were telephone poles located .outside of the curb line on Thirteenth Street, and the matter was referred to the City Clerk to notify the Telephone Company to have the same removed and placed in the proper location. Corporation and Franchise Committee reported as follows on the water petition on Eleventh and Twelfth Stredts: 'That they would recommend said extension if the Cater Company secure a peti- tion from a reasonable number of the consumers on said line." Councilman !Miller moved that the City Engineer and the Sewer and Drainage Committee locate a sewer line on Lsh Street and Oakdale Avenue. D of i.on adopted. councilman Mathews moved that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare plans for a sewerage system north of the Union Pacific tracks . Lotion adopted. The monthly reports of the City Clerk, City Treasurer, Police Judge and Fire Chief were received, .-1nd on motion of Councilman Car- ney ordered filed.
