Mayor Putnam presiding, City Attorney W. B. Crowther and the follow- ing named councilmen answered to roll call; Miller, Underwood, Carney, Wolff, Mishler, Hagler, Ostberg and Mathews. Councilmen Swe- denburg and Bateman absent. D. E. Dunne & Company of Wichita, Kansas, submitted a bid for the proposed issue of Paving Bonds. Said bonds to be issued, car- rying interest at the rate of 4.34% and offering par, accrued inter- est, and the expense of issuing the bonds, subject to the refusal of the School Fund Commission. Councilman Carney moved that the proposition be accepted, sub- ject to the refusal of the School Fund Commission. Motion adopted. An ordinance was introduced entitled; "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground, in the city of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of curbing and guttering Fifth Street, in said City, between the south line of Walnut Street and the north line of Prescott' Avenue, and re- lating to and providing for the collection and payment of said assess- ment s ." On motion of Councilman Mishler the rules of order were suspend- ed for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Miller Under- wood, Carney, Wolff, Mishler, Hagler, Ostberg and Mathews. (81 Nays: (0) Councilmen Swedenburg and Bateman absent. On motion of Councilman Miller the ordinance was read and adopt- ed by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote washad; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Carney, Wolff, Mishler, Hagler, Ostberg and Mathews. (8) Nays: (0) Council- men Swedenburg and Bateman absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 1908. An ordinance was introduced entitled; "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground, in the city of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost r of paving, curbing, guttering and excavating Iron Avenue, in said City between the west line of Penn Avenue and the west line of Delaware Street, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of said assessments." On motion of Councilman Underwood the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Carney, Wolff, Mishler, Hagler, Ostberg and Mathews. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Swedenburg and Bateman absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 1910. On motion of Councilman Wolff, the rules of order were suspend- ed for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Miller, Under- wood, Carney, Wolff, Mishler, Hagler, Ostberg and. Mathews. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Swedenburg and Bateman absent. On motion of Councilman Carney the ordinance was read and adopt- ed by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Carney, Wolff, Mishler, Hagler, Ostberg and Mathews. (8) Nays: (0) Coun- cilmen Swedenburg and Bateman absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 1909. An ordinance was introduced "An entitled; ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the city of Salina, Kansas, to pay the cost of paving, curbing, guttering and excavating Ninth Street in said City, between the south line of South Street and the south line of Crawford Avenue, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of said assessments." On motion of Counp ilman Ostberg the rules of order were suspend- ed for its consideration by the following vote; Ayes: Miller, Un- derwood, Carney, Wolff, Mishler, Hagler, Ostberg and Mathews. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Swedenburg and Bateman absent. On motion of Councilman Underwood the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Carney, Wolff, Mishler, Hagler, Ostberg and Mathews. (8) Nays: (0) Councilmen Swedenburg and Bateman absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 1910. Councilman Carney moved that the Chairman of the Street and Alley Committee be authorized to repair the Bitulithic Paving on Santa Fe Avenue, at once. Motion adopted. Councilman Mishler moved that the City Clerk notify the Mis- souri Pacific Railway Company to remove their track, from Bishop Street, between Ninth Street and Thirteenth Street, at once, as per agreement. On motion of Councilman Hagler, Council adjourned. City Clerk.
