Mayor Putnam presiding, City Attorney W. B. Crowther and the follow- ing named councilmen answered to roll call; Miller, Underwood, Car- ney, Wolff, Swedenburg, Mishler, Hagler, Ostberg, Mathews and Bate- man . The minutes of the Special Meet ing of October 4th, 1915; and the Regular Semi -Monthly Meeting of October 4th, 1915, were read and approved as read. Councilman Mathews reported that the Iron Avenue Bridge would soon be finished, and that the paving at the east end should be laid at once by the City. Watts & Amerman submitted a bid for the re-laying and recon- structing of said paving, as specified by the City Engineer. Councilman Bateman moved that the contract be awarded to Watts & Amerman as per their bid. Motion adopted. Councilman Hagler called the attention of the Council to the necessity of constructing a retaining wall on the west side of the Iron Avenue Bridge, to protect the fill along the river bank, stat- ing that it should be done now, and to conform with the general con- struction of the bridge. The matter was referred to the Street and Alley Committee with power to act. Street and Alley Committee reported that they had let the con- tract for the driving of piling on the west bank of the river, near the Ash Street bridge, to D. gid. Norton for "450.70 On motion of Councilman Bateman the report of the Committee was adopted, and contract approved. Councilman Swedenburg, of the Sidewalk Committee, reported favorable on the petition asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the north side of Ellsworth Avenue, from the railroad to Osborn Street . Councilman Bateman moved that the report of the Committee be adopted. Councilman Wolff stated that there was a fill needed on the west side of Seventh Street, between Harsh and Pacific. Councilman Hagler moved that the fill be made at once. City Engineer, stated that he deemed it advisable to construct a sewer stub across Fifth Street on Mulberry, before the Fifth Street paving was constructed, to take care of the future storm sew- er on Mulberry. The matter was referred to the Sewer and Drainage Committee with power to act. Councilman Mishler moved that the Front Street paving, from Iron_ Avenue to Walnut Street extended east, be designated as one paving district. Motion adopted. A petition asking for the curbing and guttering of Tenth Street, from the north side of Lincoln Avenue to the south side of Grand Avenue, was received and referred to the Street and Alley Com- mittee.
