Street and Alley Coirimittee reported favorable on the location of an
Arc Light on Center Street, about 250 feet east of "the rn_ilroacl. Coun-
cilman N?iller moved that the light on the corner of Ash and Second Streets

Councilman Miller moved trite+.t the City Clerk notify the light c0--n-
-pany to locate arc .lights at the corner of South treet ant'. Ninth Stteot, - -
iiighland Avenue and Crawford avenue, Second and Ash Streets, and on
Center St re,•t , about 250 feet east of the railroad.
Councilman Carney presented a petition a..s',{ing the council to pass a
resolution to pave Tenth Street from South Strerlt to Morrison avenue.
Councilman Dodcls made motion that the request be denied on account of
previous motion macle by the Council not to pass any more paving resolu-
tions this season.
Street and Alley Co:%rmittee made a verbal report on the widenirrqof
the alley bet;°leen Ninth and Tonth :streets, from: South Street to Morrison
Avenue., and, as far as the City was concerned there was no objection 'o
such improvement if the property owr_ers would agree among themselves to
pay all torts for opening up sE:.iu street.
Councilman Hagler mentioned the necessity of a foot bridge on Iron
Avenue, during the construction of ti;e new cement, bridge. The matter
was generally discussed and finally referred to the Street and Alley Com-
mittee for investigation.
A petition asking for the construction of a s ide,,,alk on tale south
side of Claflin avenue form Hi_-hland avenue to Ninth Street was received,
and the Sidewalk Committee having investigated the above petjotion reported
favorable. Councilman Miller moved that the report of the committee
be accepted, acid that the City Attorney be instructed to prep;p:re an ord-
inance ordering in the said walk.

Councilman Miller moved that the contract be awarded to the Eby
Construction Company of 7,el_lington, Kansas, as per their bid, and that
the certified checks be returned to the unsuccessful bidders.
An ordinance was introduced erlt it .ed . "An ordinance iorov i d in r, for
the construction of certain sewers in the city of Salina, Kansas] letting
the contract therefor, and providing for the payment of the cost of the
same . "
On motion of Councilman Dodds the rules of order were suspended for
its consideration by the following vote: ?;;res: Miller, Underwood, Dodds,
Carney, Swedenburg, Hanly, Hagl-er and Mathews. (8) Na:rs: Mishler (1)
On motion of Councilman Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted
by sections and on its final adopt ion the rol.]_ was called and the follow-
ing vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Dodds, Carney, Swedenburg,
Hagler and Mathews. (7) mays: Mishler and Hanly. (2) The "!payor ap-
proved the same and is numbered 1821.
A resolution was introduced for the paving of Crawford avenue from
Santa F avenue to Ninth Street, and specifying that said pavement be
constructed with Asphaltic -Concrete, and rescinding the action of the
Council and former resolution of February 15th, 191.5. Councilman Dodds _
moved that the resolution be adopted and on roll call the motion was lost.
An ordinance was introduced entitled, "An ordinance providing for
the construction of certain sidewalk in the citir of Sa-lina, Kansas."
On motion of Councilman Swedenburg the rules of order were suspend-
ed for its consideration by the followSng vote; Ayes: Miller, Underwood,
Dodds. Carney, Swedenburg, Mishler, Hanly, Hngler and Mathews. (9)

sections and on its final adot¢tion the roll was called and the following
vote was had; Ayes; Miller, Underwood, Dodds, Carney, Swedenburg, Mish-

the same and is numbercd 1822.

An ordinance was introduced entitled, "An ordinance providing
for the paving, curbing, guttering and excavating of Fishop Street, in
the city of Selina, Kansas, between the west line of Ninth Street and
the east line of Thirteenth Street, and providing for the cost there-
of and the manner of payment."
On motion of Councilman Miller the rules of order were suspend-
ed for its consideration by the following vote; A;res: Miller,
Underwood, Dodds, Carney, Swedenburg, Mishler, H„,_nl7r, Hagler and M,2 Ah-
ews. (9) Nays: (cone)
On motion of Councilman Carney the ordinance was read and adopt-
ed by sections and on its final adoption the roll_ was called and the
follwoing vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Dodds, Carney,
Swedenburg, Mishl.er, Hanly, Hagler and Mathews. (9) Nays: (None)
The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 1823.
An ordinance was introduced entitled, "An ordinance providing
for the paving, curbing, guttering and excavating of Thirteenth Street,
in the city of Salina, Kansas, between the north line of Ash street
and the north line of Bishop st, reet extended due west from Ninth Street
and providing for the cost thereof and the manner of f,a yrrent .
On motion of Councilman Miller the rules of order werO suspend-
ed for its consideration b7r the following vote; Ayes: Miller, Under-
wood, Dodds, Carney, S-wedenburg, Mishl er, Hanly, Hagler and Mathews.

On motion of Councilman Dodds the ordinance was read and adopt-
ed by sect ions and on its final adoption the roll was called and the
following vote was had; Ayes: Puller, Underwood, Dodds, Carney,
Swedenburg, Mishler, Hanly, Hagler and Mathews. (9) Nays: (?one)
The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 1324. V
Councilman Carney moved that Ninth Street, from South :street to
Crawford avenue, be paved thirty-six (36) feet in width. Motion
adopted.
A resolution was introduced, entitled, "For the vacating of
certain port i. ons of Elm Dade Addition to the Cite of Salina, Kansas.”
Said resolution w�j, referred to the Street and Alley Committee.
On motion of Councilman Underwood, Council adjourned.
