Mayor Yiquett.e presiding, City Attorney H. C. Tobey and the fol- lowing named councilmen answered to roll call: Miller, Underwood, *Dodds, Carney, Mishler, Hanly, ",nd Hagler. Councilmen Swedenburg, Benson_ and Mathews absent . The minutes of the Special Meeting of December 7th, 1914, and the Regular seri-monthly meeting of December 7th, 191.4, were read and ap,)rov- ed as read. A committee of citizens appeared before the Council and asked for the appointment of a Police Matron in the City of Salina. The Mayor re- ferred the matter to the days ar_d Means Committee. The matter of delivering the $4,000 Bridge Bonds to the County Commissioners was referred to the Ways and Means Committee, and tYie City Attorney with. power to act. Street and Alley Committee reported as follows: "we, your committee, to whom was referred the re- monstrafnce against, the paving of the alley between Fifth and Fourth Street, from iron avenue to Ash Street, beg lieve to report, that after investi- gation we find that a majority of the resident property owners have sign- ed said remonstrance." Street and Alley Committee reported unfavorable on the location of a. Gasoline Filling Station at the corner of Fifth Street and Iron Avenue. Street and Alley Committee, to whom was referred the matter of the location of a Lunch Wagon on Iron avenue, beg lieve not to make re- commendations, and referred the matter back to the Council. Councilman Miller, moved that a special_ permit be grented for the location of a Lunch Tagon at the corenr of Iron avenue and Santa Fe Aven- ue. On motion, the roll w�­,.s called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood and Hanly. (3) Pays: Dodds and Mishler (2) Councilmen Carney and Hagler not voting. Councilmen Swedenburg, Benson and Mathews absent. Motion was declared lost. Claims and Expenditure Corrlmittee reported by ordinance entitled, "An ordinFLnce making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims". On motion of Councilmen Carney the ordinance was read and adopted by sections, and on it,s f irral adoption the roll. was called and the follow - 1k ing vote was had; Ayes: lyIiller, Underwood, Dodds, Carney, Mishler, Han- ly and Hagler (7) ,Nays: (i,?one) Councilmen Swedenburg, Benson_ �.nd Mathews absent. The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 1810. An ordinance was introduced entitled, "An ordinance re -assessing and re -levying the cost of paving, curbing, guttering and excavating the block on Walnut Street between the east line of Second Street and the west end of the Walnut Street Bridge, crossing the Smoky Hill river on said street; and repealing section five of Ordinance No. 1800, passed and approved November 16t1-1, 1914." On motion of Councilman Underwood the rules of order were suspend- ed for its consideration by the following vote: AlTes: Miller, Underwood, Dodds, Carney, Mishler, Hanle and Hagler. On motion of Councilman Carney the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll_ was called and the follow- ing vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Underwood, Dodds, Carney, Mishler, Hanly and Hagler. (7) Nays: (done) Councilmen Swedenburg, Benson and Mathews absent. The Mayor approved the sa_rre and is numbered 1811. The following communication was received and read, and referred to the WaNTs and Means Committee. Salina, Kansas. Dec. 19, 1914.
