COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS, SPEC It,L MEETING.
COUNCIL CHAMBER,
SALINA, KANSAS.
OCTOBER 5, 1914.
Special session of the Mayor and Council, for the purpose of con-
sidering and hearing complaints of property owners as to the valuation
placed on lots and pieces of ground, liable to assessment for the pav-
ing, curbing, guttering and excavating of Walnut Street, from the east
side of Fifth street to the west side of the Walnut street bridge, and
from the west side of Tenth Street to the East side of College avenue.
Mayor Niquette presiding, and the following named councilmen answered
to roll call; Miller, Underwood, Dodds, Carney, Swedenburg, Mishler,
Hanly, Benson and Mathews. Councilman Hagler absent.
The report of the appraisers was taken up and read as follows:

We, E. L. Milder, W. G. Studebaker and W. M. Gar-
rison being duly and severally sworn according to law, each for himself,
does hereby swear that he is an owner of real estate in the city of
Salina, Saline county, Kansas, and is disinterested in any of the prop-
erty liable to special assessment for the cost of pavung Walnut street
from the East side of Fifth street to the West side of the Walnut Street
bridge, and from the West side of Tenth Street to the East side of Col -
leo -e avenue, as more particularly described and provided for in Ordin-
ances numbered 1749 and 1750 respectively, of the city of Salina: and
that each of us will to the best of our judgment and ability make a true
and impartial appraisement of all the lots and pieces of ground abutt-
ing on such respective streets above described without regard to the
buildings and improvements on said lots and pieces of ground, the dist-
ance to be improved, as set forth and designated by the Mayor and Council
in said Ordinances numbered 1749 and 1750. So help us God.

Councilman Dodds moved that the asses:iment on Lot No. 33, on
Walnut Street, Phillips Third Addition,. be reduced from $1200 to
$1150, and Lot No. 35, Walnut Street, Phillips Third Addition, reduced
from $1050 to $1000.
Councilman Mishler moved that the appraisers report on the
West end of Walnut street be adopted as thus amended and changed, which
motion was unanimously adopted.
On motion of Councilman Swedenburg, Council adjourned.
