04-10-1914 MinutesCOUNCIL PROCEEDINGS. ADJOUIu4ED MEETING. COUNCIL CHAMBER, SALINA, Ki-.NSAS. APRIL 10, 1914. -- Adjourned meeting of the City Council, April 10th, 1914. Mayor Niquette presiding, City Attorney H. C. Tobey and the following named councilmen answered to roll call: Miller, Hansen, Dodds, Brick, Sweden - burgs Hanly, Stevenson, Studebaker and Benson. Councilman Peck absent. An ordinance was introduced, entitled, "An ordinance providing for the construction of a certain sewer in the city of Salina, Kansas, and letting the contract therefor and providing for the payment of the cost thereof". On motion of Councilman Dodds, the ordinance was read and a- dopted by sections, and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote -was had; Ayes: Miller, Hansen, Dodds, Brick, Swedenburg, Hanly, Stevenson, Studebaker and Benson. (Nine) Nays: (None) Council- man Peck absent. The mayor approved the same and is numbered 1755. Sidewalk Committee reported by ordinance entitled, "An ordinance providing for the construction of certain sidewalks in the city of Salina, Kansas." On motion of Councilman Hanly, the ordinance was read and a- dopted by sections, and on its final adoption the roll was called and the follwoing vote was had; Ayes: Miller, Hansen, Dodds, Brick, Swedenburg, Hanly, Stevenson, Studebaker and Benson. (Nine) Nays: (None) Council- man Peck absent. The mayor apporved the same and is numbered 1756 The following resolution was introduced: Be it Resolved by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina, Kansas,, that the paving of Walnut street, in said city, be- tween the east line of Fifth street and the west line of Laalnut street bridge, and the curbing and guttering of both sides of said Walnut street, within such limits, are each and all work and improvements necessary to be made and done. On motion of Councilman Hanly the resolution was adopted by the following vote; Ayes: Miller, Hansen, Dodds, Brick, Swedenburg, Hanly, Stevenson, Studebaker and Benson. (dine) Nays: (None) Councilman Peck absent. The following resolution was introduced: Be it Resolved by the Mayor and Councilmen of the City of Salina, Kansas, that the paving of Walnut street, in said city, be- tween Tenth street and College avenue and the curbing and guttering of both sides of said Walnut street, within such limits, are each and all work and improvements necessary to be made and done. On motion of Councilman Studebaker the resolution was adopted by the following vote; Ayes: Miller, Hansen, Dodds, Brick, Swedenburg, Hanly, Stevenson, Studebaker and Benson. (Nine) Nays: (None) Councilman Peck absent. A petition for the paving of Tenth street, from Iron to Ash street, was received and referred to the Street and Alley Committee. Councilman Hanly moved that the city lease the rooms formerly oc- cupied by Chief Brodbeck at the rental of $15.00 per month, on a one (1) year's lease, with privilege of renewal of two, three, four or five years, and that the rent be deducted Brom the Fire Chief's salary each month.
