RESOLUTION NUMBER 01-5786
A RESOLUTION INITIATING PROCEEDINGS BY THE GOVERNING BODY FOR
THE CONSTRUCTION OF WATERWORKS AND SANITARY SEWER SYSTEMS EXTENDING
EAST FROM NINTH STREET ALONG STIMMEL ROAD AND NORTH ALONG OHIO STREET
IN THE CITY OF SALINA, KANSAS
WHEREAS, the City of Salina, Kansas (the "City") desires to proceed with the construction of
waterworks and sanitary sewer systems improvements (the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the City is authorized pursuant to Charter Ordinance Number 32 of the City to
issue general obligation bonds to finance the construction of said waterworks and sanitary sewer systems; and
WHEREAS, reports, estimates and plans have been compiled and furnished to the Governing
Body of the City to provide them with sufficient information in order to enable them to commence proceedings
for the construction of the Project.
Kansas:
SO NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Governing Body of the City of Salina,
Section 1. Proceedings should be and hereby are initiated pursuant to the provisions of Charter
Ordinance Number 32 for the purpose of proceeding with the Project.
Section 2. The City Manager and other City staff are authorized to take all necessary actions
to proceed with the Project.
Section 3. The cost of the Project or portions thereof shall be paid from funds of the City
available for such purpose and by the City -at -large through the issuance of one or more series of general
obligation bonds of the City as provided by Charter Ordinance Number 32, and pending the issuance of said
bonds, through the issuance of one or more series of temporary notes of the City, the estimated maximum
principal amount of such obligations being $650,000, plus costs of issuance and costs of interest on temporary
financing.
Section 4. The City expects to make capital expenditures on and after the date of adoption of
this Resolution in connection with the Project, and intends to reimburse itself for such expenditures with the
proceeds of one or more series of general obligation bonds and temporary notes of the City in the estimated
maximum principal amount of $650,000, plus costs of issuance and costs of interest on temporary financing.
Section 5. The Finance Director and City Clerk are hereby authorized to obtain bids from
prospective purchasers of the notes for the temporary financing of the Project through the issuance of
approximately $650,000 of temporary notes and to present the results of such bids to the governing body of
the City for approval.
Section 6. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
Adopted by the Board of Commissioners and signed by the Mayor this 10' day of December,
2001.
