Tobey and the fol- lowi,ig named councilen answered to roll call: Miller, Hansen, Dodds, Brick, S-,verlenburgg, Manly, Stevenson and Studebaker. Councilmen Peck arid Benson absent. The minutes of the Regular Adjourned meeting of December 29th, 1913 and the First Re?ular 114onthly-meeting of January 5th, 1914, was read and a _)proved as read. Claims and ,xpenditure Committee reported by ordinance entitled, "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims". On motion of Councilman Stevenson the ordinance was read,.rid adopted by sections, and on its final adopt ion the roll. was called and the fol- lowing vote was had; Ayes: Miller, 11 --arisen, Doclds, Brice, Swedenburg, Hanly, Stevenson and Studeba_lrer. (Fir�l,t) Nays; (id one) Councilmen Pecl, and Penson absent. The f ayor approved the same <:nd is numbered 1742. Street and Alley Committee reported by ordinance entitled, "An ordinance uaacatinu a certain alley in the mounds of the Kana -as 11.'esleyan University addition herein dlescribed". On motion of Councilman Doc4ds, the ordinance was read and adopted by sections, and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had: Ayes: Viill_er, Hansen, Dodds, Fric;r, Swedenburg, Hanly, Stevenson and Studebaker. (Tight) Mays: (IJione } Caunc ilmen Peck and Benson absent. The vlayor approved the same and is numbered 1743. A petition was received, asking fot the location of an arc light on North Santa Fe 1,.venue, betwen Elm street and t-r:e Missuori Pacific tracks, also the location_ of an arc light at the corner of Fourth street and Beloit avenue, and on the corner of Osborn and Minnerapolis Avenue. 'Rias read and referred to the 'Street and Alley Committee. A report and recommendation from the Kansas Inspection and Fire Prevention Office was received and orderd filed. Norton, appeared before the council_ and object ed to the act- ion of the council, authorizing; the dumping of refuse in the hole of the Ferlen property. On motion of Councilman, the "arshal was in- structed to notify ;rir. Ferlen to confine the clumping to the north end of the property near Elm Street. An ordinance was introduced, entitled, "tan ordinarco ar:i� ;,i inL Sec- tion Three (3) of Ordinance No. 177;6, 0- d repe=aling such original section so amended". On motion of Councilmian 'Stevenson the rules of order were sus )ended for its consideration by the following vote: Ayes: ' ill_er, Hansen, Dodds, Brick, Uwecenbur",lla ily, .t.evenson and Studeb,,=.ker.
