12-09-1913 Minutes22 COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS. SPECIAL CALLED MEETING. COUNCIL CHAMLER, SALINA, KANSAS. DECEMBER, 9, 1913. Special called meeting of the City Council, December 9th, 1913. Pres- ident of the Council and Acting Mayor W. G. Studebaker presiding. City Attorney Ii. C. Tobey and the following named councilmen answered to roll call: Miller, Hansen, Dodds, Brick, Swedenburg, Hanly, Stevenson and Stude- baker. CounaLlman Peck and Benson absent. The request called for meeting with the report of service of same was read as follows: Salina, Kansas. Dec. 9, 1913. To W. C. Studebaker, Pres. of the Council, Salina, Kansas. We, the undersigned members of the City Council of the City of Salina, Kansas, hereby respectfully request you to call s special session of the City Council of said city, to meet in the Council Chamber this (Tuesday) evening, Ded. 9th, 1913, at 7:30 o'clock P. ivi. "For the purpose of considering the construction of a cement bridge on Iron Avenue, across the Smoky Hill Diver, and for the purpose of considering any other business that might legally come before such special meeting." In compliance with the foregoing request and for the purpose therein named, I hereby call a special meeting of the City Council to meet at the time and place therein n med and the City Marshal is hereby directed to notify each of the Councilmen and City Attorney of said meeting and make due returns of said notice hereon. k'. I hereby certify that I have notified Councilmen Miller, Hansen, Dodds, Prick, Swedenburg, Hanly, Stevenson, Studebaker -and Benson and City Attorney H. C. Tobey of the meeting by reading it to them in person. Mayor Niquette and Councilman Peck out of the city. J. H. Tullis, ____ City Marshal. The matter of constructing a cement bridge across the Smoky Hill River on Iron Avenue, was generally discussed by members of the couricil'and citizens present. On motion of Councilman Stevenson the City Attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance calling a special election, to vote bonds in the amount of (e4,000.00), and assist the county commissioners in the erection of the bridge across the Smoky Hill River on Iron Avenue, to have not less than (40) feet, drive -way, and (8.) foot, sidewalks on each side, and two spans a,;proximately (80) feet each. Said ordinance to be introduced at the next meeting of the City Council. On the final adoption of the same the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Hansen, Dodds, Brick, Swedenburg, I1anly, Stevenson and Studebaker, (Seven) Nays; (i;orie) Councilmen Peck rind Benson absent. Councilman Mia -ler not voting. There being no further business appearing, on notion of Councilman Hanly council adjourned. Chas. E. Banker City Clerk.
