It seems to me that error was made in the original construction of the sewer in Salina, Kansas, in that it did not extend further north, and enter the river on or about i`Iorth Street, at the el.trerne north bend of the river, and to carry the sewer east of Ash Street makes it neces::a.ry to cross the river, and seems to me not to be the feasible and correct out- let. If the sewer should be constructed across to the first bend of the river, it would leave the sewer problem unsolved, and at that point it is entirely too close to the city for the construction of septic tanks, as in my judgment and from the best information that I can get, I am satisfied that no septic tank solution should be installed closer than one mile from the present cut-sklirts of the City of Salina. I believe error would be committed in extending the sewer across the river forming any obstruction in the river. For the above reasons I hereby veto the -above described Ordinance. Very truly yours, V. iwic;uette, :ayor. Cc;uncilman iv"iller moved that the council proceed to pass the Ordin- ance No. 1730 over the Mayor's veto.
