AUGUST 6th, 1928.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, August 6th,
1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was
called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City
Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of July 30th, 1928, were
read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3581.
City Engineers Final Estimate for the construction of
Lateral Sanitary Sewers, under contract dated June 12th, 1928,
awarded to C. T. Snyder, wads received, and on motion of Commission-
er Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain d aim."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3582.
City Engineers Final Estimate for the construction of Storm
Sewers, under contract dated April 16th, 1928, awarded to H. J.
Taylor Construction Company was received, and on motion of Commis-
sioner Campbell same was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled : "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nags: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3583.
City Engineers Final Estimate for the construction of certain
joint City and County street improvements, under contract dated
June 12th, 1928, awarded to L. W. Rexroad was received, and on mo-
tion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Com-
missioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3584.
City Ehgineers Final Estimate for the construction of curb-
ing, guttering and paving certhin streets under contract dated
June 12th2 1928, awarded to H. J. Taylor Construction Company was
received, and on motion of Commissioner Campbell same was approved
by the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making
an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3585.

certain storm sewers, under contbact dated June 12th, 1928,

An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance vacating a certain part of a certain alley located
between Santa Fe "venue and Fifth Street, south of Pine Street in
the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the follows vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nays:.(0l The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3587.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An
ordinance granting to Union Pacific Railroad Company, its success-
ors and assigns, the right to construct, maintain and operate
standard gauge railroad tracks over and across North Street between
Ninth and Eleventh Streets and across the east and west alley and
along the north and south alley in Block 5, vepot Addition to the
City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3588.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance granting union Pacific Railroad Company, its suc-
cessors and assigns, the right to extend Weber Mill spur east
thirty (30) feet in North Street and west across Ninth treet in
the City of Salina, Kansas."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the ib llowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3589.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to and regulating construction, alteration
and use of buildings in the fire limits of the City of Salina for
hotel, rooming house or apartment house purposes.

On m otion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3590.
Permission was granted to A. B. Carr to cut the curb at
the corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Pacific Street.
Petitions were received from the bell Taxi Company, asking
for permission to establish taxicab stands at different locations
in the City of Salina. Same were ordered returned.
The City Treasurer reported that he had received as
security for deposits of the city in the several banks ip Salina,
Kansas, in addition to the Surety Bond furnished by the ational
Bank of America, the following securities, as authorized by law
and by the ordinances of the City of Salina, to -wit:

Commissioner Dodds moved that the securities pledged to the
City Treasurer, as above described, be approved, and that the
City Treasurer be authorized to deposit city funds in the above
named banks to the extent of the securities so held by him, or
additional securities hereafter deposited with him by any of said
banks, when approved by tie Board of Commissioners. Motion
seconded by Commissioner ampbell, and duly carried.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, the Board of Commis-
sioners adjourned. —
