COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
NNE 18th, 1928.
Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners, Oune 18th,
1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll
was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and
City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 11th, 1928; and
Adjourned Meeting of June 12th, 1928 were read and approved as
rea d.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: � "An ordinance making
appropriations for miscellaneous purposes.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its $ nal adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3554.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance levying special assessments against certain lots
and tracts of land in the City of Salina to pay the cost of con-
demnation of certain land for the opening, widening and extending
of Eleventh Street in said city from the south1ine of Park Street
to a point 130 feet south of the south line of said Park Street
and prov idi ng for the collection for such special assessments."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the ffb llowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3555.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance granting Union Pacific Railroad Company, its success-
ors and assigns the right to construct, maintain and operate a
standard gau§e railroad track over and across Elm Street and
along Third treet near the intersection of Elm and Third Streets,
in the City of Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the fb llowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3556.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for the exca-
vating, grading and paving of North Street from the east line of
Twelfth Street to the city limil—sat he ntersection of North
Street with the Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way being the
west line of Whittredge street."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final ado ption the roll was
called and the fallowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell.
and Dodds (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3557.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance confirming and ratifying a contract for the im-
provement of certain streets in the city of Salina, Kansas and
providing for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost
thereof, pending the issuance of sale of bonds for the payment
of the cost thereof."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the fb llowing vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Na Ts: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3558.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for the building
and construction of certain storm sewers in the City of Salina
described as Storm Sewers Numbers 7-A and 8-A and providing for
the issuance and sale of bonds for the payment of such cost."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3 ) Nays: (0 ) Mayor approved the same and is numbered
3559.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance ratifying and confirming a contract for the building
and construction of certain lateral sanitary sewers in Lateral
Sewer Districts No. 141 and 142 in the City of Salina and providing
for the issuance of temporary notes to pay the cost thereof
pending the issuance and sale of bonds for the payment of such
cost."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The Mayor approved the same and is
numbered 3560.
C. T. Snyder presented Maintenance, Performance and Statu-
tory Bonds for the construction of certain Storm Sewers and
Lateral Sanitary Sewers, under contract dated June 12th, 1928,
and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same were approved by the
Board of Commissioners.
L. W. Rexroad and H. J. Tayl6r Construction Company present-
ed Maintenance, Performance and Statutory Bonds for certain
street improvements under connect dated June 12th, 1928, and on
motion of Commissioner Campbell same were approved by the Board
of Commissioners.
An application was received from the Blue Cab Company,
asking for permission to establish a cab stand to be located on
West Ash Street near the south entrance to the Lamer Hotel.
Commissioner Campbell moved that permission be granted and
that permit heretofore granted to the Bell Taxi Company be re-
voked. Motion adopted.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, meeting adjourned.
