06-04-1928 Minutes7" COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. JUNE 4th, 1928. Regular meeting of the Board of•Commissioners, June 4th, 1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 28th, 1928, were read and approved as read. City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and esti- mate of cost for the curbing, guttering and paving of: North Street from Ninth Street to Twelfth Street; for the grading and paving of: North Street from Twelfth Street to Whittredge Street; for the curbing and guttering of: North side of Euclid Avenue from Fifth Street to Ninth Street. The above mentioned plans, specifications and estimate of cost were filed in the office of the City Clerk, May 21st, 1928. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same were approved by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to ad- vertise for bids for the above namedwork, to be received up to and including Monday, June 11th, 1928 at 4:00 P. M. City Engineer submitted plans and specifications and estimate of cost for the construction of lateral sanitary sewers in Dis- trict No. 141, Center Street between Fourth Street and the entrance to Kenwood Park; and District No. 142, in the alley in block be- tween lginth`Strieet -ands°Tenth:8tbbet from Lincoln Avenue to North Street. The above mentioned plans, specifications and estimate of cost were filed in the office of the City Clerk, May 21st, 1928. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same were approved by the Board of Commissioners, and the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the above named work, to be received up to andincluding Monday, June 11th, 1928 at 4:00 P. M. City Engineer submitted plans, specifications and estimate of cost for the construction of Storm Sewers 7-A and 8-A, on North Street between Ninth and Reynolds Streets and north on Reynolds Street Eo:'Lincoln Street; also on Twelfth Street between North Street and Lincoln Street; also on Euclid Avenue between Eighth and Ninth Streets. The above mentioned plans, specifications and estimate of cost were filed in the office of the City Clerk June 4th, 1928. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same w ere approved by the Board of Commissioners and the City Clerk was instructed to ad- vertise for bids for the above named work to be received up to and including Monday, June 11th, 1928 at 4:00 P. M. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes. 11 On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the 2) llowing vote was had* Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The kayor approved the same and is numbered 3543. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "'An ordinance relating to and apportioning and levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of Jalina, Kansas to pay the cost of excavating, grading, curb- ing and guttering cf Center Street from the east line of Fifth Street to the east entrance to Kenwood Park in the City of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The mayor approved the same and is numbered 3546. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance providL ng for and requiring the construction of certain sidewalks along certain streets in the City of Salina. On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3547. City Engineer's Estimate No. 1, for the construction of certain street improvements included in contract dated April 16th, 192819 awarded to L. W. Rexroad was received, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was adopted by the Board of Commis- sioners. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain claim." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3548. City Engineer's Estimate No. 1, for the construction of Storm Jewer No. 8, under contract dated April 16th, 1928, awarded to H. J. Taylor Construction Company was received, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was adopted by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An to levying ordinance relating and apportioning and special City assssments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the e of `'alina, Kansas to pay the cost of excavating, grading and paving of the alleyrunning north and south between, and para- llel with, Seventh Street and Eighth Street, from the north line Ash Street to the south line of Elm Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, and relating to and providing for the collection and payment of such assessments. On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3544. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance relating to and apportioning and. levying special assessments on certain lots and pieces of ground in the City of galina, Kansas to pay the cost of curbing, guttering, exca- vating, grading and paving Oakdale Avenue from the south line Of Iron Avenue to the north line of Gypsum Avenue in the City of Jalina, Kansas, and relating to providing for the collection and payment of such assessments. On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3545.
