COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALIVA, KANSAS.
MAY 7th, 1928.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, May 7th,
1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor helvering, the
roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds
and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 30th, 1928,
were read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and authorizing the creation of
trust funds to be used in improving, maintaining and caring for
the lots, graves, monuments, vaults or other cemetery property
of lot owners in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, providing for the holding
of such funds in trust by the City of Saline and the manner of
handling and expending the income therefrom.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3530.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
An ordinance providing for the gradin and paving of North
Street from the east line of Twelfth treet to the city limits
at the intersection of North Street with the Union Pacific Rail-
road right-of-way, and providing for the cost thereof, how the
same shall be paid and assessed, and the manner of payment
therefor.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is num-
bered 3531.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating,
grading and paving of North Street from the west line of Ninth
Street to the east line of Twelfth'treet and providing for the
cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of
payment therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted. by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3 ) Nays: (0 ) The 14yor approved the same and
is numbered 3532.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for the curbing and guttering of the
north side of Euclid Avenue from the west line of Fifth Street
to the east line of Ninth Street and providing for the cost
thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of pay-
ment therefor. it
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3533.
The appraisers report for the opening, widening and extend-
ing of Eleventh Street from the south line of Park Street at a
point 130 feet south of the south line of Park Street was received
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the report was adopted,
approved and ordered filed.

An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An
ord nance approving the report of Commissioners in the matter of
the condemnation of certain land for the opening, widening and
extending of Eleventh Street from the south line of Park Street
at a point 130 feet south of the south line of Park Street; making
an appropriation for the payment of the amount awarded by such
Commissioners to the owners of the property condemned; and providing
for the completion of such condemnation proceedings in the manner
provided by law."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to the sale of a certain building by the
City of Salina to W. G. Walden."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance creating and defining lateral sanitary sewer dis-
tricts in the City of Salina, designated as Lateral Sewer Dis-
tricts No. 141 and 142, providing for the construction of lateral
sewers in such districts, providing for the cost thereof and for
the levying of special assessment against the property in such dis-
tricts for the payment of such cost, and for the issuing of bonds
therefor."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
Concrete Construction Bond was received from H. T. Weldin,
and on motion of Commissioner Campbell same was approved by the
Board of Oommissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sanitary sewer on Republic Avenue from Eleventh Street to Ninth
Street, and on motion, same was referred to the City Engineer.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of a
sidewalk in front of Lots 30 and 42 on Ninth Street, in Grounds
of Kansas Wesleyan University, and on motion, same was referred
to the City Engineer.
A petition was presented asking for the installation of a
street light at the corner of Gypsum Avenue and Connecticut
'venue, and on motion, same was referred to the City Manager.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, meeting adjourned.
