03-26-1928 Minutes433 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. MARCH 26th, 1928. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, March 26th, 1928. Meeting wcs called to order by Mayor Helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 19th, 1928, were teed and approved as read. An ordinance w^s introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the excavating, grading and paving of Cedar Street from the west line of Phillips Street to the east line of College Avenue, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of Minneapolis Avenue from the west line of Highland Avenue to the east line of Ninth Street, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, grading and paving of Oakdale Avenue from the south line of Iron Avenue to the north 1 n of f Gyypsum Avenue, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of Oakdale Avenue from the south line of Gypsum Avenue to the south line of Oakdale Urive." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of North Street from the west line of Ninth Street to the east 1 ne ofw-e f -t11 Street." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A rrso�ution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing, guttering, grading and paving of Eleventh Street from the north line of Ash Street to the south ---rine of Park Street." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing and guttering of north side of Euclid Avenue from the west line of Fifth Street to the east line 0? -Ninth 0?-NinthStreet." On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Bids for roof on Memorial Hall as advertised for were received from: Gus Buehrle, Ja l ina Roofing Company City Engineers estimate of cost for the above named work was read. 434 On motion of Commissioner Campbell, bids were referred to the City Engineer for tabulation. A petition was presented asking for the extension of two-hour parking on Ash Street from Santa Fe Avenue east to the alley between Santa Fe Avenue and Fifth Street. On motion of Commissioner Campbell, City Attorney was instructed to draft an ordinance including both sides of Ash Street from Santa Fe Avenue east to the alley between Santa Fe 'venue and Fifth Street in the two-hour parking zone. Motion carried. A petition was presented asking for the curbing and guttering of north side of Euclid Avenue from Fifth Street to Ninth Street. A petition was presented asking for the sanding of Euclid Avenue from Fifth Street to Ninth Slreet, and on motion same was ordered filed. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sewer on Kirwin Avenue from Fourth street to Osborne — Street, and on motion, same was referred to the City Engineer. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance amending Section 3 of Ordinance Number 3040, defining and relating to District No. 2 of the fire limits of the City of Salina, and amending Section 9 of Ordinance No. 2993, relating to the construction of buildings and the issuing of permits therefor in the City of Salina, and repealing said original sections. On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Application and taxicab liability policy was received from Fred Metzger. City Attorney reported favorably on policy, and license was granted to Fred Metzger for operation of taxicab in the City of Salina for the year 1928. City Attorney was instructed to draft an ordinance revis- ing ordinance relating to deposit required of water customers; also an ordinance creating an Advisory Park Board. Commissioner Dodds moved that after adjournment of this meeting, Board of Commissioners meet on Tuesday, March 27th, 1928 at 5:00 P. M. City Clerk.
