03-19-1928 MinutesCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. MARCH 19th, 1928. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, iv`arch 19th, 1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor helvering, the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 12th, 1928, were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making appropriations for miscellaneous purposes." On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had• Ayes: Helvering, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The payor approved the same and is numbered 3510. The report of the Commissioners for the opening, widening and extending North Street in the City of Salina, Kansas, between Ninth Street and Eleventh Street was received, and on motion of Commissioner Dodds same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. The following request was presented: Salina, Kansas. March 19th, 1928. On account of an existing emergency, consisting of the necessity of instituting proceedings for the paving of North Street between Ninth Street and Eleventh Street, and the lack of time for instituting and carrying through the necessary proceedings for such improvement unless the accompanying ordinance is passed without delay. I hereby request the passage of the accompanying ordinance on first reading, such ordinance being entitled as follows: "An ordinance approving the Report of Commissioners in the manner of the condemnation of certain land for the opening, widening and extending of North Street between Ninth Street and Eleventh Street; making an appropriation for the payment of the amount awarded for such Commissioners to the owner of the property condemned; and providing for the completion of such condemnation proceedings in the manner provided by law." On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had • Ayes: Helvering, Camp- bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and is numbered 3511. An application was received from Lewis F. Colvin, asking for the privilege of establishing a taxicab stand in front of the Savoy Hotel at 336 North Thirteenth Street. On motion of Commissioner Campbell request was granted, subject to revocation at any time by the Board of Commissioners. 432 Taxicab liability policy was received from C. 0. Sandberg. Same was referred to the City Attorney. City Attorneyy reported favorably on taxicab liability policy of W. B. McMickle for eight taxicabs; also one for C. 0. Sandberg. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a sidewalk on the west side of Clark Street from Walnut Street; north to connect with walk now constructed on said street. Same was ordered filed. A petition was presented asking for the curbing, guttering and paving of Columbia Avenue from Johnstown Avenue to Ash Street. Same was ordered filed. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance providing for the curbing, guttering, excavating, paving and grading Lincoln Street from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to the east line of Ninth Street, and providing for the cost thereof, how the same shall be assessed and the manner of payment therefor." On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Dodds meeting adjourned. � L City Clerk.
