COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIONERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JANUARY 23rd, 1928.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, January
23rd, 1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor helvering,
the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 16th, 1928
were read and approved as read.
Bids as advertised for were received for the construction
of a brick garage and tool house at Sewage Disposal Plant from:
Johnson Bros. Construction Co., $1120.00

Commissioner Campbell moved that contract be awarded to
Johnson Bros. Construction Company as per their bid submitted.
Motion adopted.
Applications for eight taxicab licenses for the year 1928
were received from W. B. McMickle, and on motion of Commis-
sioner Campbell license's were granted.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for bad levying special assessments
against certain property in the City of Salina for the payment
of the cost of graveling Sheridan Street from the south line
of Crawford Street to the north line of epublic Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering,
Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the
same and is numbered 3498.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to the condemnation of certain private
property for the purpose of opening, widening and extending
North Street between Ninth and Eleventh Streets; designating
a benefit district and providing for the appointment of Com-
missioners to make an appraisement and to assess damages and
benefits; and providing for the vacation of certain portions of
Tenth Street and of North Street as now existing between
Ninth Street and Eleventh Street."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was
read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the
rollwas called and the following vote was had; Ayes:
Hel-
vering,, Campbell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayorapproved
the same and is numbered 3499.
On motion, City Clerk was instructed to advertise for
bids for 800 feet of 3 -inch fire hose, bids to be received
up to and including February 6th, 1928 at five o1clockP. M.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds, meeting adjourned.
