COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING.
COMMISSIOiERS ROOM,
SALINA, KANSAS.
JANUARY 16th, 1928.
Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, January
16th, 1928. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Helvering,
the roll was called and Commissioners Helvering, Campbell and
Dodds and City Attorney Norris responded.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 9th, 1928,
viere read and approved as read.
An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to the salaries and compensation of
certain city officers and repealing certain ordinances and parts
of ordinances in conflict herewith."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell the ordinance was read
and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was
called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Camp-
bell and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the same and
is numbered 3496.
An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance mak-
ing appropriations for miscellaneous purposes.
On motion of Commissioner Dodds the ordinance was read and
adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called
and the following vote was had; Ayes: Helvering, Campbell
and Dodds (3) Nays: (0) The Mayor approved the some and is
numbered 3497.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance providing for and levying special assessments
against certain property in the City of Salina for the payment
of the cost of graveling Sheridan Street from the south line
of Crawford Street to the north line of Republic Avenue."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance relating to the condemnation of certain private
property for the purpose of opening, widening and extending
North Street between Ninth and Eleventh Streets; designating
a benefit district and providing for the appointment of Oom-
missioners to make an appraisement and to assess damages and
benefits; and providing for the vacation of certain portions of
Tenth Street and of North Street as now existing between Vinth
and Eleventh Street."
On motion of Commissioner Dodds same was referred to the
Board of Commissioners.
An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled:
"An ordinance vacating the alley in Block 4, in ''orrim n Addi-
tion, in Salina, Kansas.
On motion of Commissioner Campbell some was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.
A petition was presented asking for the curbing and gut-
tering of Center Street from Fifth Street east to the Kenwood
Park entrance.
A petition was presented asking for the construction of
a sewer on Center Street from Fourth Street east.
On motion, same was referred to the City Manager.
A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled:
"A resolution relating to the curbing and guttering of Center
Street from the east line of Fifth street, east to the en ranee
of Kenwood Park."
On motion of Commissioner Campbell same was referred to
the Board of Commissioners.

Commissioner Dodds moved that the balance in the Water
and Li,gght (Investment Account) be transferred to the Sinking
Fund. (lnvestment Account).
On motion of Commissioner Campbell, meeting adjourned.
