04-04-1932 Minutes484 60 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING. COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. — I APRIL 4, 1932. i Regular meeting of the Board of -Commissioners, April 4, 1932. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth and j City Attorney Norris responded. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 28, 1932, were read and approved as.read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An,ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Pafford.the ordinance was read and adopted by sections.and.on its final adoption the roll.was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4143. City Engineer submitted Estimate.Number 4 to H. J. Taylor Con- struction Company for the construction of Storm Sewers No. 10-A and 14, under contract dated November 19, 1931, and on motion of Commis- sioner Pafford same was appr.oved.by the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced._ entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of a certain elpLim." On motion of Commissioner. Morey the ordinance was read and adopt- ed by sections and on its final.adoption the.roll was called and the following vote was had;. As: Stevenson, Morey, Benfield, Pafford and Spaeth (5) Nays: (0l Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4144. A petition was presented asking for the construction of a side- walk on the north side of Charles Street, rawest of the alley to Phil- lips Street. Same was referred to the City Manager. A oetition was presented asking for the construction of a side- walk on the north side of Frost Street from Ninth Street to Seitz Street. Same was referred to the City Manager. A resolution was introduced for second reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the improving,of part of Ninth.Street from south line of Jewell Avenue to center of Cloud S r� eek' wTEE 21tumin- ous Mat Surfacing." On motion of Commissioner. Benfield the resolution was adopted as read and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was hadAyes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth i (5) Nays: 0) Mayor approved the same and is numbered 532. The above resolution is recorded in full on Page 189 of Resolu- tion Fbok Number 2. Application No. 55 asking for the location of a sign to be erected over or near front door of building located at 201 South Santa Fe Avenue was received, and on motion of Commissioner Morey same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Application No. 56, asking for the location of a sign to be erected over front door of building located at 120 North Santa Fe Avenue was presented, and on motion of Commissioner Morey same was approved by the Board of Commissioners. Application.No..58, asking for the location of a sign to be erected on front of building located at 140 South Santa Fe Avenue was received, and on motion of Commissioner Morey same was approved by the Board of Cormnissioners. A request was received feom the Massachusetts Bonding and Insurance Company, asking for the release of bond written for the City Plumbing Company under Ordinance No. 3644. On motion, City Clerk was instructed to sign release. A communication was received from the National Bank of America asking that they be permitted to place securities instead of surety ! bonds to cover city bank deposits. Same was referred to the City Manager. i Commissioner Morey moved that the following named banks be desig- nated as City Depositories: j National Bank.of America. i Planters. State Bank. Farmers National Bank. i Liability Policy and application for taxicab license for the year 1932, received from J. L. Bowers. On motion of Commissioner Morey license was granted, and bond approved by the Board of Commissioners. On motion of Commissioner Morey license Was granted, and bond approved by the Board of Commissioners,@ j i A resolution was introduced for first reading entitled: "A resolution relating to the curbing and guttering of Frost Street from the West line of Ninth Street to the east line of Sherman'- Street."
