11-18-1931 Minutes - AdjournedCOMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, ADJOURNED MEETING Adjourned meeting of the Board of Commissioners, November 19th, 1931. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Lenfield, Morey, Pafford and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. A report and recommendation from the Board of Public works relative to the construction of Storm Sewer Nos. 10-A and 14, known as the Crawford Avenue and Johnstown Avenue sewers, and the letting of the contract therefor was duly received and ordered filed and is as follows: Salina, Kansas. November 19th, 1931. To the Honorable Commissioners of the City of Salina. Gentlemen: j We, your Board of Public works, hereby submit the follow- ing resolution, as adopted by the Board November 18th, 1931. RESOLVED, that the Board of Public Works approve the building of both the Johnstown and Crawford sewers and recommend the contract be let to the bid of $97,473.25, provided that the material proposed meets with such tests as the City Engineer and Commissioners may properly apply. Taylor Construction Company be determined to be the lowest responsible bidder for the construction of Storm Sewers No. 10-A and 14, for which bids were received by the Board of Uommissioners November 16, 1931, and that the contract for the construction of Storm Sewers No. 10-A and 14 be awarded to the H. J. Taylor Construction Company as the low- est responsible bidder therefor in accordance with the bid of said company submitted November 16, 1931 at the unit prices set forth in said bid in the total amount of $97,473.25 based upon the City Engineers estimate of quantities, and based upon the use of precast concrete pipe in all sizes from 12" to 60" inclusive, to be manu- factured in Salina, Kansas by the Shearman Concrete Pipe Company of Little Rock, Arkansas, and that the certified checks deposited by the remaining bidders be returned to them, and that the Mayor be authorized to sign such contract with the H. J. Taylor Construc- tion Company on behalf of the City of Salina. On the final adoption of said motion the roll was called by the City Clerk and the follow- ing vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Benfield, Morey and Spaeth (4) Nays: Pafford (1). On motion of Commissioner Benfield the Board of Commissioners adjourned. i City Clerk.
