08-17-1931 Minutes432 COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS, REGULAR MEETING COMMISSIONERS ROOM, SALINA, KANSAS. AUGUST 17, 1931. Regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, August 170 1931. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Stevenson, the roll was called and Commissioners Stevenson, Morey, and Spaeth and City Attorney Norris responded. Commissioners -benfield and Pafford absent. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of August 10, 1931 and Regular Meeting of August 120 1931s were read and approved as read. An ordinance was introduced entitled: "An ordinance making an appropriation for the payment of certain claims." On motion of Commissioner Morey the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey and Spaeth (3) Nays: (0) Commissioners Benfield and Pafford absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4097. An ordinance was introduced for second reading entitled: "An ordinance levying special assessments on certain property to pay the cost of cutting weeds on certain lots and parts of lots and on the parkways abutting thereon in the City of Salina." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth the ordinance was read and adopted by sections and on its final adoption the roll was called and the following vote was had; Ayes: Stevenson, Morey and Spaeth (3) Nays: Benfield and Pafford absent. Mayor approved the same and is numbered 4098. A petition was presented asking for the use of the Municipal Swimming Pool by the colored citizens of Salina. Same was ordered filed. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance making a levy of taxes for general revenue and other purpos- es in the City of Salina, Kansas for the year 1932." On motion of Commissioner Morey same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. An ordinance was introduced for first reading entitled: "An ordinance authorizing and providing for the issuance of Improvement Bonds of the City of Salina, Kansas in the sum of $31,444.94 to pay the cost of improving certain streets and alleys, and constructing certain lateral sanitary sewers, and constructing certain storm sewers in said Uity." On motion of Commissioner Spaeth same was referred to the Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Spaeth moved that the property owners on the south side of University Place from Twelfth Street to Baker Street construct a sidewalk three feet from the property line. On motion of Commissioner Morey the Board of Commissioners adjourned to meet in regular session, Thursday, August 20th, 1931 at 1:30 P. M. y Clerk
